Week 13, The Monster Book of Monsters.
Suggestions on MBofM: If you use directional material, allow extra time, take frequent breaks, and it's okay to mumble to yourself! LOL!! I added pupils to his three eyes with a black permanent marker. And I used batiks for the pages, teeth, and hairy top half. They didn't have a distinct right/wrong side to the fabric and it made it easier flipping all the little triangles. Also, allow a little extra fabric on the outside edges. With all those seams I lost a half each both directions on the overall block. I can add fabric at the top, or put him on a thin book, so it's not unfixable. Max
Thanks Max. I love what you did with this block. Nice work on the pages and I like his "skin".
Max great job on this block .I'm loving it . Barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
Max you monster is awesome! I love his 'fur'!
Mooresville, NC
I completed block 5 & 6 but I just realized that I put block 5 together backward...so I have to redo it! I have no idea how I did that! Then I can't wait to do block 13!
Thank you, Kris, Barbara, and Joy! I'm liking him much better now that he is finished! Wasn't sure how the change from fur on his upper half to skin on bottom half would look, but I decided to take a chance. Glad you think it looks okay.
Max
Joy,
I have a couple of blocks that I got books sewn to the 'wrong' side according to the pattern. But they really won't affect the overall quilt, since there will be a border around it to make it look like a bookcase. Are you sure you need to change it?

Joy, really beautiful fabrics
In the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
Gracias Max por tu orientación para trabajarlo, gran trabajo, pienso que los ojos puedes poner chaquiras o punto frances? Ninette
Ninette,
Sí, cuentas o nudos franceses iba a funcionar muy bien para los ojos.
Joy your block is lovely. No need to redo it. I love the fabrics you chose.
Here's my blocks 5, 6 and 13. Well, I didn't actually do week 5, instead did some books with the Gryffinder head that is part of the extra blocks on fandom stitches. I enlarged him 160%.
Week 6 actually went together fairly easily. Nice to have a few blocks that are less intesive.
And then there's week 13, the Monster Book. Oh my. I had the "brainy" idea to use a fabric that looks like the pages of the book. Trying to get those lines all going in one direction about drove me nuts. I didn't succeed completely but it will have to do. I swear I wore out my seam ripper!
Joy, Your block 5 looks great. If it was me I would leave it the way it is. Makes it different from everyone else's :o)

Fantastic blocks Judy !!! Love your fabrics. Your monster book is wonderful. Love the way you got the pages to look and the way the eyes seem to have eyeballs!
