Donne, try this tutorial. It's a start and it has more than one part to it. I hope it helps.
When I first started paper piecing I was so confused. Books didn't help me grasp what I was supposed to be doing. For some reason I just couldn't get it into my head. I took a course on Craftsy.com that helped me immensely. Once you have the process down, it makes sense.

Donna, there are also links in "Pages" to tutorials and projects. If you find any good ones let me know so I can add them to the list. Hopefully we'll have another group project soon.
Spike Your English BOM - If you are behind (as I am) on this BOM, best collect your patterns now if you haven't already because after June 1, they will no longer be available.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I am going to be busy learning.
Mary's Fon's Tutorial Part 1 & 2 are very good and then I liked this one on You Tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv2gKMx9CCM
Connecting Threads have many wonderful tutorials on various topics. Thanks for the link I'd forgotten about them. I've added it to "Pages".
quilting around the square won't let me sign up, so I guess those patterns are out.
I am ready to start a new PP project this fall. I really like doing harry potter. are there any other patterns out there you could recommend that are similar? I've checked fandom's files and none of the others appealed to me. I've looked at books, but those weren't interesting.
gini in north idaho
here are some good patterns
Those are pretty patterns Gini.
I have two paper piecing projects on my shelf. One is from fandom stitches, the Pooh characters, which I love. The other one is from the book Seascapes by Cheryl Peck. I've made three of the blocks so far.
I really want to continue with the Seascapes project although It's a bit of a challenge because of the complexity and the way the patterns are printed.
Gini those patterns are cool. What's the problem with quilting on the square? Are you trying to get their newsletter? I'm hoping they have another free BOM later this year
Have you tried the designers on Fandom in Stitches? Many of them have their own blogs with different content.
I haven't been sewing much lately and when I do it's LUS or Garden party.
good idea, kris. i'll check them out
This lady has some nice paper-piecing quilts. She just finished a cool lighthouse one that was a free BOM, now you have to buy the pattern. She is starting another BOM in September and will tell the theme in July.
Ladies I'm liking the links you posted. More project ideas.
I just joined the group, and am looking forward to learning! I recently took an intro to PP Class at my LQS and liked it immediately. Just needed to finish up a current project before launching into something new using PP. I'm looking forward to "meeting" who is here in the group, altho I'm sure it will be many of the gals we chat with daily on other posts!
