I have been able to complete all my blocks for Step 4.  I am so happy, I have to go to San Francisco this week so I will be ready for Step 5 on Friday.

Nana,  wondered if we needed to have fabric for sashing or borders.  And if so, how much?  Thanks a lot.  Jan

What if you diverge from the prescribed directions?  The 4 patch blocks are VERY interesting.  I can see where Nana is going from Step 4 directions - an Xs and Os style quilt.  I'm thinking of diverting to a medalion style top instead.  Haven't decided yet cause I'm still sewing the 4 patches and squaring HST still!  Only 180 more HST to go!

Jan I didn't do any sashing.  Borders are up to you.  I plan on doing a pieced border for mine but it will have to wait until I get back from retreat.  In the past everyone has liked doing their own thing with borders so I didn't design any to go with this top.

Okay, Nana, thanks a lot!  With this being my first Mystery Quilt here, I wasn't sure what I needed to buy!  Jan

I think I am doing a narrow border first and then a wider one.  Haven't quite decided until I see what the finished product looks like.  I love doing borders.  I also though about bordering each of the squares.. haven't decided on that either as I am still putting together HST's.
