This was a fun block to do, I certainly learned I should trim each row before assembling the blocks in order to preserve the points on the HSTs.
Very nice Judy E!
I forgot to mention that I really like your borders too!
I just love it Judy. The borders are a fabulous complement to the quilt.
Beautiful quilt and the borders are just WOW.
Love it! Beautiful borders!
Judy, this is AWESOME!! Just love your borders! Gorgeous!
Beautiful...I vote for this one. They are all works of art...but I love yours and especially your very unique borders.
Congratulations Judy E! Your border framed this beautifully!
Congratulations Judy , beautiful quilt
Congrats on the win! Awesome job!!
Wonderful job! Would love to know how to make that outer border. Too new to quilting to figure it out :/
I did not have a chance to vote but this is definitely my favorite quilt. I love your border design; it goes so well with the block design and the color scheme.
Congrats on winning. You did an outstanding job. The borders are fabulous. Did you design them yourself? I, too, would love that pattern. Again, great job!
Your quilt is beautiful, and love the outer border.
The pieced border is one 3", half square triangle/quarter square triangles block, left and right versions, repeated, with a 3" half square triangle in the corners. My inspiration was from Bonnie K. Browning's book, "Borders and Finishing Touches." She shows five different borders using this one block. And if you can make half square triangles, like we just made over 200 in MQ8, you can make this border. I made 40 yellow/orange/black 4" hsts. I matched them with 40 4" charcoal grey blocks to make the eighty combined half square/quarter square border blocks. The left and right versions happen automatically. Not really difficult, the color values and block placement are what make the results.
