This will be my first mystery quilt - I'm so excited! Getting a little bit of a late start here, but I think I've chosen my fabrics. I wanted something that said Spring/Summer & these just make me think of sherbet! One question - is the yellow to dark to be my light? It's the lightest one I have. Hope to be able to get everything cut this weekend so I'll be well ready for step 2.

I think your fabric combination will work fine. Does look like sherbet.

Those 1" strips are some of the first we will be using in block construction. You may want to go ahead and cut them.
Thanks for the quick reply Nana! I'll get to cutting.
Finally settled on fabric Thinking Springtime. Will have to cut this week-end, we're expecting a rainy one, so that will be good.
I am so impressed with everyone's colour choices. I have seen several that I want to use but have cut my fabric so will go with what I have for now. I may have to make another after. Thanks Nana for doing this for us.

WOW! I LOVE the color choices that are popping up. Now it makes me want to rethink mine! I will have to see if I have spring colors in my stash.
Quiltcrone--I recently used that butterfly fabric for a skirt for my youngest granddaughter. She absolutely loves it!

I love these colors and the print is gorgeous.
I finally decided on the fabrics to use. They are posted in the media section. I look forward to your comments! I'll start cutting tomorrow.
Susie, I originally purchased that butterfly fabric thinking it'd be cute as a skirt or sundress. Makes you smile, doesn't it?

I got it because it was NOT pink or purple, lol! I truly am tired of those two colors as they are the favorites of my granddaughters. I wanted to do something in a different color! I bought some sheer stuff with silver bead-y things throughout it in a burnt orange to put over the top of the butterfies. My lovely little grands get such a kick out of picking out fabric for their skirts and dresses.
I'm loving the spring color combinations that are being posted! These are going to make beautiful quilts. The border fabrics are great! I'd better get going on the cutting of my non-spring fabrics for which I have no clue about a border yet. Picture by the weekend, I hope.

I'm getting ready to begin cutting for this project & I don't want to screw it up, so I have a question. I've read in various places about the importance of "squaring up" fabric before cutting strips. In spite of explanations I've read, I don't understand how to do it. Supposedly, this is the reason some of my strips have come out hinky in the past - I've just ironed, folded & cut. Can someone shed some light on this? I'd really like to have perfect strips for this project.
There's some REALLY good illustrations in the SWAP group under their Pages I believe. I'll try to figure out a link and post it. It really does make a difference.
Roxana,
Here's your link... Squaring Fabric
Thanks for leading us there!
