Hi all. My name is Rachal and I live in Miami, FL. Not too much need for quilts here, but I'm thrilled to be getting back to this hobby. Credit my youngest son who asked me to finish a simple denim/homespun top he helped me cut years ago. Surprised he remembered it, but he moved to Bethesda for Army Med School and found it much colder up there. I am looking forward to this project, even though I promised myself I would not start another quilt before finishing the remaining UFO in the craft closet. I am giving in though, as I can rationalize it by saying that my middle son could use it since he's trying to fix up his house. Of course I'll then have to make one more for the oldest son....aaarrgh, and that's how it starts.

Hello all!  My name is Gina.  This will be my 3rd Mystery Quilt here on Quilters Club of America, since I joined.  I love doing these, and am excited for MQ8!

I lived in North Central Wisconsin, and am a member of a local quilt group, Tuesday Quilters, as well as a member of a local quilt guild, Star Point Quilt Guild.

I love sewing, and especially making quilts, pillows and handbags.  I also love going fishing with my boyfriend and my son.  :o)

Hi Nana.  My name is Shirley Keen.  I live in Omaha, Nebraska.  My husband and I will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary this July.  I have one son, a lovely daughter-in-law and 2 beautiful grandbabies.  I have been quilting for about 10 years now.  I have done one other mystery quilt and loved it.  When I saw the MQ8 was starting up I just had to join the Club and sign up!  I can't wait to find out the yardage so I can go shop!  My sister is also going to sign up to participate.  We are looking forward to sharing the experience.  I am new to QCA but already feel like I'm meeting new friends.

Can't wait to start.

Shirley

Thank you for letting me  join in on the fun!  My name is Deb and I live in NC.  I am very excited to see this mystery develop.  I am also a 'Nana' and have 4 gkids.  Gardening used to be my passion and now it's quilting!  I learned to quilt in '88 but put it down because of boredom: didn't like pastels and Sunbonnet Sues.   About 10 years later, I discovered Jinny Beyer and fell madly for quilting!  I was fortunate enough to finally get to attend her Hilton Head Seminar - her last.  I am a traditional quilter and a long armer.  But I also love applique and hand piecing/quilting.  I started a guild 5 years ago and have been blessed with wonderful quilting friends and activities.  I also love camping with my sweetie, Mark and our two dogs.  Life is good!    Hugs, Deb  Quiltbeeme

Hi

My name is Elizabeth. I have been sewing for over 60 years, starting with clothes for my Betsy McCall Doll. I live in what is called the South Shore across the St.Lawrence River from Montreal Quebec, I started quilting 15 years ago with a kit for place mats that I found on sale at local store. I then made 6 (X6)sets for  gifts the next Christmas. That store has gone and there arn't any quilt stores close to me , so I try to get to Quilt shows and brouse the material on sale. Not that I need any as I buy at local rumage sales, so have a lot of small pieces. (Some of the workersknow me enough to put cotton aside for me). and have built up quite a stash.

I lost my Husband 2 months ago quite suddenly and so have been busy with paper work and have not had time to get back to quilting.  I started a Quilt for my granddaughter before Christmas and hope to finish it for her Birthday in 22 days. I make quilted covers for Scrapbooks to give to new brides and babies, and have 2 started and 1 more to be made before June, plus a picnic quilt for my daughter-in-law  that just needs to be tied hopefully for her Birthday in May. I have not done a mystery quilt before so hope I can keep up and  also finish my UFO's.I'm looking forward to getting involved. Thank You

While I would dearly love to quilt along with all of you, we are still living aboard our sailboat until the end of May - without a sewing machine!! AAAArrrggghh!  I'm SOOO suffering from quilting withdrawl!! But I will be saving the steps and plan to complete the quilt when we get home.  Looking forward to everyone's postings - if I can't quilt, at least I can enjoy everyone else's excitement and angst! LOL!

As a side note, while here in the sunny Floriday Keys, I was able to connect with MNCarol and her darling hubby while they were vacationing 1.5 miles away from our marina!! How cool is that??!!??  Just goes to show how amazing this group is.  Here's a pic of Carol and me the day we went to a local Flea Market together.  Can you tell it was a bit windy that day? LOL!

Hi. My name is Eve and I live in the beautiful city of Cape Town in South Africa.  I have been sewing for many years but only recently decided to try quilting. My first quilt was not a great success but hopefully the next will be better. Looking forward to getting started on the Mystery Quilt.

didash and judi, I was wondering the same thing as I live just outside of Philly in Montgomery County.  Want to go to the AQS show in Lancaster together?  It's going to be March 13 - 16.  It's a great show.  I'd be willing to drive.

HI everyone. I live about an hour from Seattle WA. I learned to sew as a girl but I have only been quilting for about a year. I am currently participating in 3 groups at a local quilt shop.

First one is a Sat sampler. Its a black and white quilt with a splash of color mixed in.

Second is a mystery quilt.

Third is the 2013 Thimbleberries. This is my first time doing the thimbleberries group.

I have made 4 other quilts. 1 is all done and donated to a local charity group. 2 of them the tops are done but they are not quilted yet. I want to do them on my regular sewing machine and have been practicing on scraps but havent yet got the hang of it. The 3rd one is layered and partially quilted. But, one of my kids moved it and the Iron and the water from the iron spilled on the quilt and now something (backing fabric or thread, not sure) has bled onto the front of the quilt. I am kind of discouraged and have set it aside but have a couple ideas of how to try and remove the bleeding and set the colors so it wont do that anymore.

I have been married for 22 years, I have 4 kids ranging from 9 to 21. I am currently unemployed so have time right now to work on projects. The local quilt shop has a "stash dash" running right now so I am "dashing a long" to try and use my stash. But so many new fabrics are just "calling " to me. LOL

Hi! I am Bear Angel and I reside in Mineral Bluff, Georgia. I am a retired high school mathematics/ media specialist teacher as well as a disabled veteran and live with my husband in our beautiful home. We have 6 grandchildren and 2 small dogs. I have been quilting for about 7 years. I also have a very large quilting area in our loft looking out towards the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains that we live in.

I have never been involved in a mystery quilt before and I am looking forward to working on this project with all of you. I think I will have to go to my local quilt shop on a regular basis and join the UFO class to keep up with all of the projects that I have going. LOL

Below is the last quilt I finished. It turned out to be a very expensive one because I made it for our church fund raiser. My husband liked it so much he made the highest bid of $100 and bought it back.

I live and work in Gettysburg PA. I am a municipal planner and the name of this mystery quilt -- City Street -- quickly drew me in. Lately I have been focusing on Project Linus quilts so this will be a good opportunity to work with a different group.
