Tracy: Hi Nana! My FQ's are from Joann's and are only 21" x 18"...will it matter that they are an inch short? Thank you! Tracy

Tracy, I am not Nana, but you will be OK.
You will need 9 1/2" strips so you can get 2 9 1/2" strips out of 21" , and still have 3 inches left over. Remember you are cutting across the fabric, which is 21" wide.

Thank you so much for answering Tracy's question. I have been busy this afternoon and didn't get back to the computer.

No problem. I just wish I could get my heart back into sewing. I am so far behind with birthday blocks. People thought they were doing me a favor when they cleaned up my "sewing mess" when Paul died and I can't find anything and don't have the energy to try to go look. This year has just been the pits. So collecting fabrics and patterns and hoping that one of these days i can get it in gear. Glad I could help someone out.
Candy you need to gather up your sewing stuff and come spend a week-end at my house , I'll get you back into it . Believe me it will help. I'm serious come and spend a week end with me and we can sew.. Barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
How much backing will we need?
Betty
I am really not sure. I think someone figured 3 yds. I haven't completely finished the top yet and don't have any final measurements. It will also depend on how many borders you add and how many blocks you want to add to your top. I never figure backing until I am completely done with my top as I tend to change things some. I don't think the backing amount was figured with the pattern I received either.
Nana, I posted a pic of my fab in the Media of MQ7, there are 24 different FQs - will this be enough to make my quilt larger? I have some yardage of the 2 colors on the far left. Thanks Spud

I had a feeling Candy, after reviewing the cutting instructions, and you were right (of course!). Thank you...

Hi
I am new to the mystery quilt. I have cut out 40 of each - 5.5 x9.5, 3.5 x 9.5 and 2 x 9.5 is this right? This is the first time i have participated in an online quilt so i am really excited about it but want to get it right.
Janet
That is exactly right. The pattern does call for 40. However I found that there wasn't a good layout for 40 blocks. You can use 30 and do a layout of 6 rows of 5 blocks. Or you can cut 2 more of each size and have 42 blocks and do a layout of 7 rows of 6 blocks.
Thank you! I think i will cut two more and do the bigger quilt!
Spud
You will be able to get 3 blocks from each FQ so that would give you 72 blocks. Really pretty fabrics.
Thanks Nana!
Nana, this is a 14 pack FQ. If I add 6 solids do you think it will work for MQ 7? Or are the prints too similar in tone and value? Not too much contrast?
