Southwest Florida
Hey Sandy! This isn't a question about the last step, but I knew you would see the post here - sorry!
Where in SW Florida are you? We will in Fla for the winter (mostly in the Keys) but will probably be cruising up the west coast at some point...are you anywhere near the coast?? Would love to share a favorite beverage with you while watching one of those gorgeous FL sunsets from our cockpit if we can meet up....thoughts?
Thanks again!
This is going to be a great quilt when I finish! thanks! Question: Were you planning to give us any instructions for making this quilt larger? Thanks again!
You can always make more rows/columns of the same blocks.
The other idea is to come up with a larger border. In addition to the fabric choices, it is through the uniqueness of everyone's border designs that each mystery quilt takes on its own personality in vying for the "viewer's choice" award.

Sandy,
How much backing fabric am I going to need?
Thanks, Traci

You can make a larger border as suggested or you can add an additional border to make it larger.
tweiland: Sandy, How much backing fabric am I going to need? Thanks, Traci
Traci, you will need 5 1/4 yards for backing and approx 3/4 for binding.
all the quilts are great. I am donating mine to the ELKS club to raffle
Hi Sandy,
I just got around to finishing the X blocks on the Mystery Quilt 6 and found that the blocks were larger than the 16 patch block. I would like to know what the finished block size is supposed to be for both blocks. Also would like to know if the mystery quilt actualy has a name for the design.
New quilter,
Bev Boyce
from TN
Hi Bev,
The finished block size will be 8" which means they will be squared to 8.5" before sewing together with the other blocks.
There isn't really a name for the pattern, but the blocks are the X block and the 16 patch. Missouri Star Quilts called it Bittersweet because that's the fabric line they used to make it in their shop and the fabrics they provided in the kit. A lot of our quilters pick their own names for these "generic" MQ patterns.
when will they be doing the next mystery quilt
There is no specific date yet, but it will be in the fall. We usually start in late Sept or early Oct.
where do I look to find out what quilt won the mq6 contest. I searched around on the site but couldn't find it. I wanted to see the pic of the winner. Thanks
Sandy will announce the winner on June 25th
