Finally finished piecing this one and have dropped it into my queue for quilting. My daughter has already indicated she will snag this for her bed once it is done.

Sun Dogs-named for the light shining through the morning mist in the forest. Just gave it to my neice for her wedding, she is in Hawaii with her hubbie. Hope she likes it. Made it in her favoride colors periwinkle and sage green. the bali pops jelly roll in all batiks made the color choices so easy! You can see I was inspired by Nancy's spectacular border and i was so pleased to figure it out and get them on straight without too much stretching and set the corners even. That was a challenge! Quilted it on a long arm rentaland I really like the pattern which emphasizes the Sun Dogs!

I guess since mystery quilt 6 has started that I better get 5 finished. I chose two different colorways and this is my favorite. I chose to cut off a bolt instead of use a jelly roll for one set and I did use a jelly roll for the second set. I am still working on that one!!

Here is my completed Mystery Quilt V. It will be given to my newest granddaughter, when she is born. At that time, I will be able to add a label and give it a name. I really enjoyed completing and it gave me a chance to use up some of my thirties fabric strips and fat quarters.

First mystery. Very happy with the results.

better late than never. I finally got the top done. It is hard to see in the pic but there is a black border with the grey cornerstones. Now I have to pick a backing and get 'er done.

My completed MQ V, quilted and bound. Each block is quilted with a feathered heart. The border is quilted with a feathered scroll coming from a heart in the middle of each side and in the corners.

Not quilted but the top is done. This was a fun project and my first online mystery quilt. I am looking forward to doing another one. My niece brought me a bag of fabric scraps from a yard sale and ta da, this is what I created from it.

Beth, I just measured each side with the 1/4" measurement. I didn't worry too much about squaring the block. When I got to the sashing part, I just made sure all my sashing strips were the same size and eased any fullness in the blocks onto the sashing.

I don't know that this is a "final step" question, but it's keeping me from finishing. :)

I'm finally getting around to trimming my blocks and getting ready to put everything together. I don't have a lot of experience in squaring up blocks, and that's my problem right now. I'm going to need to square all of my blocks to 11 1/2 (which is fine with me). I just can't figure out for the life of me how to square them up because the seams are diagonal. The way I was taught to square was to use a ruler larger than my block, line up a line on the ruler with a seam on the block. I know, I know....call me stupid, but I am at a loss with these diagonal seams! Can someone please help this dumb girl out!? Thanks!!!
