working on a class sample from Craftsy... I am liking it so far, but with out the snap hoop , very difficult to line up endless embroidery...
Kelley, what kind of machine are you using? Do you have any kind of virtual positioning? I think you would find that helpful. I am certainly not an expert at it, but I was shown the technique for Bernina's at the Claudia Dinnell workshop I attended in November 2012.
I've purchased this class, downloaded the files and reviewed all the classes, but haven't stitched out any of the designs yet. That is definitely on my to-do list for the new year...lol!
Same here Donna. Think I'm a bit nervous to start. I looked up the snap hoop; expensive.
I love your sample Kelley.
I am using a Brother 4000D machine. The designs do leave a small set of stitch lines to try to line up, but with a reg hoop it is hard to line up because when you put it in the hoop, the sandwich distorts a little. The snap hoop is expensive.. I am going to try to save up for this.. good luck to you on this, and we all would love to see your sample when you get it done...
Thanks Kris, I would love to see your sample if you get to it..
I love it! I am taking that same class.
I bought this class too. I've yet to watch all of the lesson's. The ones I have watched seemed doable. Colors have me stymied. Has anyone else picked out fabric for it?
I haven't picked out fabric yet. I just got a new sewing machine and I am scared to try the embroidery unit until I can take the classes on how to use it! I am a bit overwhelmed since I have been using a mechanical machine and now have one that does it all. I like to watch the classes first, then get everything and watch again.
Kelley, do remember the gal doing this class is the developer and seller of the snap hoop. I have heard quite a few negatives about them, so I would be very careful before spending that kind of $$$ on something that might not work as well as what you have. Since you have a Brother, can you take your machine to your Brother dealer and ask them how they would suggest lining up this design? I attended an Anita Gooddesign workshop that featured Brother machines and they had a very effective built-in positioning system in the machines we were using. Don't know if your machines has this, but it is worth a try before you spend add'l $$$.
Love your choice of colors Kelley. I think you've done a great job lining them up especially considering you don't have the hoop. I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.
