Fantastic idea.  My block came out terrible. I going to try you paper piece method.

Thanks, Gloria

Jacy another great job.  I love the boldness on the first block.

More lovely blocks, Jacy.  I like the way you gave the first block two different reds.

Elizabeth, how are you coming with paper piecing this one?  It looks like no matter what method is used there is going to be some sort of Y seam.

Everyone's blocks are gorgeous...this one taught me "Y" seams.  I'm learning, learning, learning with this sampler.

I devoutly hope with every fiber of my being there won't be any more Y seam blocks. This is the only one so far that didn't come out to 6-1/2" but it is what it is. Perhaps this one with be in a lower corner of the quilt.

Judy your fabric and block is wonderful.  I think you did a fabulous job with a difficult block.  As I've scanned the other blocks it looks like maybe there will be more Y seams but maybe I'll get better if I practice more.  If not I'll do as Kris has done and hand piece those nasty ones.

Jacy:
Everyone's blocks look great, especially considering this block was a little tricky. If I did this block again I think I might sew it without the center square and then applique it on afterwards, or make this block with EPP. Actually, I din't expect i'll make these blocks again, I can live with my imperfect ones!

Jacy, both your blocks look great.

Judy, when you add sashing make it fit. Pretty fabrics.

Judy

Your block is beautiful.   I am sorry but there are several more with Y seams.
