Ah, it was not a video just a tutorial but I do that between each project. I also put a drop of oil in the center before putting the bobbin case back in. My dealer showed me how to do it when I bought the machine.

Barbara, I took a quick look at the site and found a fabulous pattern I want to do, it is the Dresden Plate with the twist. I will go back now and see if I can find the video. Thanks for showing us this site. It is now on my fav list.

Thank you for the info regarding the above location. I go over to Top Stitch about 3 or 4 times a year depending on the classes that I sign-up for. The last time I was there was in early March. We bought my car in Jeff City so when it is time for my next service in May I will stop on the way at Top Stitch. I have tested a Bernina 530 but I just do not want to spend that much money at this time so I will check out their used machines. We go to Columbia a few times a year due to my husband goes to the VA. I think there is a Janome dealer in Columbia.

Let me know if there is something special that I need to do when communicating to a friend on this website. I still am getting acquainted with QCA site.

Are you going to see Timothy in Barnett at Top stitch? He has other brands there too that are used, but are in top condition.

There are not any Janome Dealers in Jeff, but here are a few you could check out that may be close to you. I got mine through Sewmachineplus.com after I shopped around and tested them out. I found they had the best deal with the most free bees attached.

Hi, I own two Janome's out of the 4 machines I have and they are the only two I use. I have a Janome 9000. Love it!! But I just recently spoiled myself and bought a Janome MC 11000 SE it came with tons of extras which was nice as well. Are you looking for a new machine or one with low miles in fantastic condition. I personal feel the most comfortable with these machines. They give me what I want, and I tried my friends Bernia and just could not get used to it. You will have to test drive what is most comfortable for you.

I am new to this QC group. I have a older Janome 4000 and am wanting to upgrade. I find that FMQ has limitation on the 4000. Presently am considering either a Janome 6500/6600 or a Bernina 530 but the Janome seems to be in my price range. Do you have any recommendation on which machines to test drive? What do you like about the Janome you own?

Hey Texas, sorry I missed your message, glad to have you joining us. I have a 6600 myself.and I seldom use my auto threader as I have the same problem with it shredding my thread, and its a pain. LOL there are many great threads out there to use , I like aurifil thread and superior -king tut , I buy the great big cones to use for piercing . cost more but last along time .

sorry to hear you are having problems understanding your manual, I'd be lost without mine . but the Janome website has some great tutorials you can use as Debbie mentioned. this is really a very easy machine to use compared to many . just sit down with your machine and work with all the bells and whistles . the digital screen is wonderful to inform yo of the proper setting to use on your machine for the differnet stitches. The ohter tihng I would recommend is sit down and make yourself a stitching Bible . this is a fabirc book you can make of all the stitches your machine does. Do them in at least two differnt sizes so you can s ee how different they look. It is a great refrence book ,I'll post some pictures of mine as soon as I can find where I hid them ..LOL

Hey Debbie, no--no DVD. BUMMER! I did finally find a video on Youtube that helped me get the bobbin figured out. I've used machines before, just never one where the bobbin worked quite this way. I sewed and sewed last night, had so much fun! I'm northwest of San Antonio straight up I-10 about 2-1/2 hours.

Janome 6600P tutorials

I'm a new owner of a Janome 6600P. I've never sewn a quilt before, but am looking forward to learning. I'm not new to sewing, just to quilting. My grandmother used to quilt, and somehow the craft got lost in our family, and I want to pick it up again. My daughter wants to learn as well.

Here's my question: although I purchased my Janome from an authorized dealer, I live in the middle of nowhere (and I DO mean NOWHERE), about 6 hours from the dealer. I never dreamed it would be so hard to find a book or video or SOMETHING better than the awful Janome manual to help me learn to use my machine. There it sits, in the space my husband and I created, carefully covered and NEVER USED. I wound a bobbin and tried threading the machine, but the automatic threader shredded the thread. I'm off to the closest fabric store (an hour-and-a-half from home) to buy some better quality thread. But I could REALLY use some help getting started with the machine.

I have about a dozen quilting books, and there are lots of projects and videos available online, so I'm confident that once I get the machine figured out, I can probably sew a doll quilt!

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get some help with the machine?
