I have the 6500 and I love the extra throat space that I have - it is a very easy machine to use.  I don't do much more then straight, satin, and free motion stitching with mine though - it works well for free motion quilting.  I have no problems with it.

I have the 6600 and I have really enjoyed it. I bought a Magnolia when I was in Arizona for treatment and it is a really sweet machine. I took it to the Leavenworth retreat, it only weighs 15 pounds, and it was a lot of fun to use. I gave it to my granddaughter and she loves it. We were there at Thanksgiving and she wanted to sew, so we got it out and she is getting really good. We may have another quilter... I hope!

I have the 7700 and love it.  I bought Leah Day's coarse, she has the 7700 as well and I learned so much about my machine that I'll try when I free motion.  I traded my 6500 for the 7700 but wish I could have kept it because that was the first new machine I bought in years and I loved it.  Money wouldn't allow me but it went to a good home, my friend Nanc bought it.

I have the 6600 and love it.  I also bought a 3160QDC.  It weighs 12# so it's easy to take to classes and groups.

She just turned 9. At Thanksgiving we did a lot of practice sewing, I was trying to get her off to a good start on the scant 1/4' seam and she did really well. The next time we get together, I think we may try making some blocks.

Sheri, I just checked this out and it looks like a great machine. I could not find out how much it cost though, usually not a good sign. :) If I ever get well enough to go to classes or such, I may have to buy another light weight machine.

Spud,

It lists around $900, I think.  I got it for around $700.  It was pricier than some of the other light weight machines but it has the thread cutter like my 6600 as well as the needle up/down.  It was $100 more than the 2160DC but  that one didn't have the thread cutter and the 3160QDC came with the extension table which is why they call it "QDC".

Thanks Sheri. If and when I ever buy another machine, this one will probably be cheaper LOL. Thank you for the info though!

That is true Barbara. The Magnolia 7330 computerized, has a few less stitches and does not have the thread cutter (I have that on my 6600 but rarely use it), but it does have the needle up down, the stitch that sets the stitch, and you can move the needle so you can get a scant 1/4" - it runs around $400. It would make a wonderful machine for class.
