Leslie from Vancouver and Lashawn, I just found this thread and just wanted to say you won't be sorry you bought the 7700. I've had mine for a little over a year now and I love her, Celesta is her name. Believe it or not I'm still learning good things about her so she's a work in progress. My manual is looking pretty shabby, I'm looking in it all of the time and every time I open it I learn something that I missed on the previous times. Good luck and enjoy your machines. You too Debi.

My 7700 is only about a month old, I am still learning new stuff. I love it. I traded my 6600 in on it. I love both machines. I would have loved to keep the 6600 as well, but finances wouldn't let me...I had to trade. I love this machine!!!!!

Debi I have the 7700 as well and I traded my 6500 for it and wished I could have kept it but it went to a good home, my friend Nancy bought it so I was happy about that. I call my 7700 Celesta and I love her, she's wonderful!

My 7700 is only about a month old, I am still learning new stuff. I love it. I traded my 6600 in on it. I love both machines. I would have loved to keep the 6600 as well, but finances wouldn't let me...I had to trade. I love this machine!!!!!

I made it to the sewing centre yesterday and came home with the Janome Horizon 7700. I didn't even try the other machine as when I sat down to learn about it, I didn't like the fact that the computer screen was directly in front of my eyes and it seemed cumbersome to set up, etc. The Janome is out of the box and sitting on my sewing table and I am just about ready to sew the first few stitches with it. I have two sandwiched quilts ready for FMQ so hope to give it a try this weekend. Unfortunately, the sun is shining and our garden desperately needs to have it's spring cleaning (lol) so I will have to wait to be able to spend time learning the machine.

I also took possession of a Singer Featherweight this week but it needs to visit the sewing machine guy for a check up before I use it for piecing. The Featherweight's name is Fleur. The Janome's hasn't told me her name yet but I do know she's female.

Thank you Marilyn and Laurie. I will be heading to the Sewing Centre in Victoria later this week to try sewing on the two machines I am interested in. I plan to take a variety of items that I sew that might challenge a machine. Will have identical kits for each machine. Won't worry about different threads at this time as I have no experience using fancy threads. I'm pretty sure that the Horizon 7700 will be my choice. I hope that this dealer provides good support as the shop is an hour and a half drive from my home.

I too love my 7700. I do everything on it, piecing, applique, free motion quilting.

It doesn't take much to get your scant 1/4" seam.. with most machines you just have to move the needle over a few points. Then voila! Save that stitch into memory and you're always ready to piece.

I can't say enough about this machine. It's the first computerized machine I've ever owned and I'm so glad I made the investment almost 2 years ago.

How do the owners of this machine find it for FMQ? And how accurate is it for !/4" or scant 1/4" piecing. I need a mark or a foot to sew a straight seam. lol

Hi Leslie. I love my 7700. I don't do much piecing with it as I do that on my older Janome but for FMQ it is fantastic. I have so much room, just finished a double size quilt and had no problems swinging it around under the throat. I know there was some problems early on but they sent us out a new 1/4" foot and that seems to be fine.
