I purchased a box of fat quarters , sight unseen, very cheap. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I used some of these FQ to make this block. I hated it! I'm not crazy about the block anyway and really didn't want to make another one. Although the ones posted here are very pretty, unlike mine, lol. So I went through my orphan blocks and found one that I really like, but would probably never make a quilt it would really fit in. So, why not a sampler. So here is "MY" block # 2

Denise ,the nice thing about FMQ is you don't have to go fast ,I don't know why everyone thinks that . slow is good for a beginner and I'm still a beginner so On some things I do go slow. good for you for doing the pratice faithfully .Barbara

I made my first try FMQ with a modified foot in November. I have been practicing faithfully at least 3 hours every week since then. This is my first block with FMQ circles. I went really slow, but I got there.

I really like what you did with the circles on the first block , I'll have to remember that one.

Thanks Barbara. Adding the curving line through the center of the circle makes it so much easier to move from circle to circle. I don't have to travel stitch! It is just a variation of Leah Days coffee bean design which does the same thing with ovals.

Denise, what a beautiful job you did FMQ. Is this your first try? I'm impressed! If paisley is the only thing you can't get your mind around you certainly have many others to use. But I know you'll practice and practice more so you'll get that paisley down.

Denise , beautiful job. on the quilting, As to the echo clam shells it took me awhile to do them as well, what helped me was doing them on paper first , I did them so many times I finally got them imprinted on my brain ,it really does help to draw them by hand first .. just keep praticing you'll get it to .the ones you did on the second picture look pretty darn good to me .. I really like what you did with the circles on the first block , I'll have to remember that one. Barbara

I couldn't fit the echo clamshells into the 2" wide strip, so I did that in another block as an allover pattern. Here is the backside

I still can't do that darn echo paisley, even on paper. Must be some kind of mental block. Am I the only one struggling with paisley?

Debbie ,yeah those starts and stops get me to ,I try to remember to have my fabric anchored really well with my hands before I start to keep this from happening .but it still does sometimes .this to will get easier with pratice. good luck and keep it up. I'm going to be getting lots of pratice time here soon as I have finally gotten just about all my quilts sandwiched and ready to start,i have about 13 now to quilt ..oh boy .. LOL Barbara
