Next Monday I will be working on block three of the sampler which is a pinwheel ,get it out and look it over , I'm not really thrilled with the patterns used on it ,so may do something different ,if you have any suggestions or things you'd like to try ,let me know and I'll see if I can get them to work .. Y'all have a great week . Barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
I agree with you that the FMQ pattern used on the pinwheel block are not thrilling. They don't seem to enhance the block. I love the improvements you made to block #2. Very inspiring. It is helping me to think how to design appropriate FMQ designs. How about something extra dense in the white background. That would pop the pinwheel, and making an interesting secondary star design in the corners in you joined the blocks together. Peebles or what about mctavishing? Maybe I better get my pencil out and start sketching.

Denise those are good ideas ,I'll have to look at the block again and check it out . Barbara

I hope I am not being to forward, but since you asked for suggestions or things to try I sketched until I found something I think enhances the block. Draw three arcs corners to corner in each pinwheel blade, then mctavish the white background. Not sure what to do with the star points in the corners. I think I used up my creativity for the day,
Denise I like the mactavising so we can do that, I will have to check out the rest of the block , I meant to do that today but I'm not feeling well think I've picked up a cold . I will give it a look tomorrow . Barbara

I love it Barbara. Especially the pink and grey areas. I'll never be this good.
Love it. Your design changes added so much. It really enhances the block. Your travel stitching on the branches is impeccable. What was your experience with mctavishing? Any pointers you would like to give based on your experience with this block? Did you use polyester or cotton thread?
Denise thanks alot , I used cotton thread arufil 50wt and a 90/14 neddle, I pratice drawing the mactavisihing on paper first, and then did some pratice on a scrap piece. I have only done mactavishing a couple of times and never this much,I was real nervous when I started. I went really slow with my traveling stitches, I've been going to fast in the past . which caused me to get sloppy when I traveled.
Kris ,thank you your are to kind . I was really nervous when I did the mactavishing .. Barbara
Marie, thank you , I got your opst in the mail yesterday . just wanted you to know .. Barbara
