I'm a noob to this group, so I haven't had a chance to get to know all of you that well yet.
However, it's clear to see how much effort and care you have put toward this endeavor, Nana, and I thank you for it. You seem like a genuinely sweet and generous person, and I have been enjoying seeing the results of everybody's quilting and community efforts.
Please excuse me for being a bit cranky and outspoken on the subject of the author's, shall I say, control issues. I have been dealing with some similar things in my "real" life (and no, I have not been sued for copyright infringement lol), and it's been increasingly difficult to take off my superhero cape (some would call it my b**** hat) when encountering similar issues in other venues.
If you wish to start a similar project once this is finished, I would be happy to create something that everybody could share. If anybody has suggestions as to block size, etc. I would be happy to hear it.

Nana:She does not appear to have the heart of a quilter.
I agree with you on this. She bowed out of her Pony Club group and said she would check in from time to time. A dedicated quilter would be there for at least more than a few months especially when the blocks are being done only one at a time. Advice doesn't come from her, but others. Her comments are on the stories of the children who won the Farmer's Wife ponies from the magazines, not how and why she used the specific blocks to go with the stories as she had hinted. The old pieced-together, assumed family information about the children or their families is not quilting. She is story telling and book selling. I have stopped checking in at her site, because I have other things to do. I would be interested, as a reader, only if I had time, which I don't.
Need to get back to the quilting I need to do so I can finish my Farmer's Wife blocks. I was going to set my quilt as she did - as a historical "thing", but now may just design what I want with the blocks. That is all in the future until I can deliver these wheelchair quilts to the nursing home. I may be doing them all summer if I don't push through the aching back, neck and shoulders. I have been resting after layering the next quilt. Now to pinning (pinmoors sure speed that up) and quilt until the body screams! I WILL finish another today.... I WILL....I WILL .... I hope!

Gwen Boyce: I'm getting closer to putting it all together, but might start adding some of the sashings and cornerstones before I finish all the blocks. There are only 18 more to finish the original 111.

Gwen, I am going to be putting on sashings while we are in Texas. We fly down Tuesday for a week. Not our usual longer trip with 3 days of driving/riding/quilting both ways. I sew while Rich sleeps when we are at our daughter's. I usually sit out on the porch if it isn't too hot. Will be cutting sashings and cornerstones today so that I don't have to pack rotary cutter and my strip-cutter ruler. I will take my 12x12 cut and press to use as a lap-desk. I hope it fits in one of the small suitcases we are taking. Have usually taken sewing machine, cutting mats, and all my other "stuff" plus this quilt and several other quilt kits for my wheelchair quilts. It is strange not having a car to pack!
I don't have all my finished blocks posted yet, but will get to that when we get home. Maybe I will actually finish this quilt some day. I have enjoyed seeing all the finished or nearly-finished quilts here. Keep up with the good work, everyone, and don't give up! We are almost at the end - and don't put it in the UFO pile unquilted! I plan to hand quilt this one if my shoulders and hands will let me handle the weight of the whole quilt. Also, it has to be cool!! - can't stand to wrestle with a whole quilt in my lap in the heat! Maybe sitting outside in the shade would help, but I probably won't be ready for that stage until WINTER!
Time to get dinner, cut those sashings and cornerstones, and lay out everything ready for packing.
The last assignment has been posted. I have had a fun time watching all of you work on this quilt. I am anxious to see all those finished quilts. You guys are the best.

I just ordered my book. I am looking forward to making this. Wondering how long this blog will be up so I can go to it for advice. I will be starting my blocks next week. I would love to do it with some other quilters...anyone up to starting again?? ( or for the first time)
Hi Debi,
this group isn't going to go away so you have time to join in. I just got started and have about 15 blocks made. I make them in between other projects so I'm not very consistent with my posts. There'll be someone here to cheer you on as you go.
Good luck. I'm looking forward to your blocks.
Debi:.anyone up to starting again??
Hi Debi, I also have 15 blocks made but would love to join you so I could finish this quilt. Let me know when you get started and I will set aside some time to work on my blocks. I'm very slow so you may surpass me but if I had a buddy to work with I may just get this done at some point. Thanks for asking.

Marie, I also have 15 blocks done, so I would love to join you and Debi and get started again. I have 2 more projects that I must get finished as soon as possible, so this one would be priority #3, but I definitely want to get back to it. Count me in!!
Namma
Namma, so now we are three! Anyone else want to join? Should we set a start date or maybe month or should we pick it up as soon as we can and let each other know we have started?
I ordered my book yesterday and should have it Tuesday. I will be ready to start soon. I will need time to collect my fabric and then I am all in! Thanks for those of you who are willing to sew with me on this! Have a great rest of the weekend.
GOT MY BOOK!!!!! It came a day early, so I can start working, YAY! I guess I will start at block 1 and post as I go and when I catch up to you all, we can sew together from there?? Let me know how we do this, I will post pics soon. I am so excited, can you tell??

Debi, I'm excited for you. I have the 15 blocks done but I'm very slow at it so I think I'll jump right in and get started as well so you won't get too far ahead of me. LOL If I remember correctly, Nana posted five blocks each week in order of difficulty so that's how I did mine before I posted on the FWS site. As you can see Kris adds as she goes one at a time. What ever way is good for you is fine. Thanks for getting me started again, I needed that push.
Debi,
all the blocks have been assigned. You can work on them in any order you choose. Each block has a thread you can look at for tips etc.
Ok, I have the first five blocks done, except for the basket handle on the basket which I am going to hand stitch tonight. I will post pics tomorrow. I have been on vacation for a couple of weeks and now plan to sew at least five blocks as week (if everything goes as planned!!) and hope those of you who need to finish will join me :-)
