Cutting instructions.....Template 8 3 7/8 square cut into HST..I used 4 in sq and trimmed completed unit to 3 1/2 inches. Template 4 2 in.

Template #7 Cut 2 3/8 in squares and then cut into HST

Instead of the template you can do 2 light 2 in squares and I more HST unit for each corner. I used the template so there were less seams.

Cut template #1 squares at 2 1/2 inches. Cut template #3 at 3 inch square and then HST. Trim completed HST block to 2 1/2 inches. Cut template #14 at 5 inches then cut into HST. Trim completed HST block to 4 1/2 inches.

I made my bias strip for the handle and glue tacked to the HST. Then when I sewed the pair of HSTs together it caught the ends of the bias strip in the seam allowance. You can then either attach the handle by hand or by machine after the block is completed.
