Leslie, you must be either a night owl or early bird!  I got up at 4:30 this morning but only because my husband was getting up.  He had to load his trailer with feeder calves to take to a sale.  Then he will come back, pick me up, and run his usual farm route picking up sale cattle.  I crawled back in bed but couldn't sleep.  Gave up at 6:00AM.  Should have been on the computer instead!  The rest of the day will be spent quilting in the truck.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blocks.  I have always loved these tiny prints and am happy to finally find a quilt to use them in.  The do not lend themselves to the usual large  blocks.  Besides, the pieces are only about 11 1/2" x 12 or 13".  I have been enjoying all your blocks - love your color combinations.

Bonita, Kris, Barbara, Marie, Thank you for your comments on my block and fabrics

Marie,  These fabrics are many years old and were gotten at our local Ben Franklin store which used to be part of our grocery store.  They were sold in packs of about a dozen pieces - about 11 1/2" x 12 or 13".  I used to buy a pack every few weeks or so as long as the store was open.  I have enough pieces to maybe make 3 more quilts with some help from yellows, greens and neutrals.  It is hard to coordinate new fabrics with such old prints, but I found some fat quarters and 1 yard pieces at Thousand Bolts and Connecting Threads this morning - OUCH!! - didn't want to buy MORE fabric but----oh well.  I DID need additions to this collection.

Some fabrics in the old packs were individuals and a few had enough pieces to add up to 1 yd to 1 1/2 yds.  Those aren't my favorites, though.  Since my daughter-in-law saw the blocks last week she has suggested that "These would be nice graduation presents".  They have 2 daughters 14 and 15 and we have 2 other grand-daughters 13 and 12 plus 2 younger grandsons 15 and 16.  Graduation will come too soon and of course the boys will want quilts too!  I was also planning to make quilts for our three oldest "military men".  If I can find enough small red, white, and blue fabrics, I will select about 25 or so blocks from Farmer's Wife or Civil War blocks to make quilts for them.

The quilt I am making now will be for us - - It will be done all by hand and will hopefully be passed on to someone in the family.  I am also planning to make Sylvia's Bridal Sampler, Dear Jane (maybe modified), and Barbara Brackman's Civil War Quilt.  All of these will also be hand-done.  I need one more similar quilt since we have 5 children!!  The grandchildren will get machine made samplers with 8 to 10" blocks.  I THINK this will be fun.
