I'm not sure how to explain this swap idea. But it's been mumbling around my brain. What about a state swap of fabrics representative of the state or area you live? Maybe it's been done or someone out there has an idea how it could work.

Judy

I think the "states" swap is kind of neat.  I know that different regions have different fabrics as well as fabrics with a state flower or bird.  This could be really fun.

Perhaps something to consider after the holidays if there is enough interest.

I think this is a great idea!    Are you thinking fabric or block swap? If block, count me in should this become a swap in the future.

Bev, I hadn't thought of blocks which would be an awesome idea. Although wouldn't we need to limit it to fewer participants if it were blocks instead of fabric pieces?  I think, in my mind, it was layer cake size fabrics (or jelly strips?) and each person could attached a note to their fabrics what state or region it represented. I was visualizing making a quilt, hanging or table topper, in sort of a road map motif.  But that could be done with pre-made blocks also.

I MIGHT be willing to host this. (kind of makes me tremble to think about that). But not until after the holidays. With Barbara's help, maybe I could post a questionnaire in January to see what interest there is and what people would want to do.

Judy,

I just wanted to see what you were thinking and like you ideas. I hope you don't think I see you as the host just because you made this suggestion. This thread is for swap ideas and I am sure (I hope) that if we suggest something it does not mean a commitment to be the host. I certainly would like to get my feet wet with a lot more swaps before even thinking about hosting.

Happy quilting

Barbara--I am interested, just have to kind of play it safe for a bit.  Things are uncertain at work, so I may not have th efunds to spend on fabric...
