This looks like a fun block but I prefer smaller blocks, so I'm still thinking on this one.

Here we go Gals! The latest and greatest in swap opportunities. This swap is for red and white happy heart blocks. Here are the details:

1. The block pattern can be found at http://www.projectlinus.org/patterns/pdf/hhblock.pdf. Each block will have a finished size of 12" x 12" and should be made from quilt shop quality fabric. Blocks will contain three fabrics: (1) a solid white or white on white, (2) and (3) a solid red, red on red, or red and white print. If using a solid red or solid white, the other colors cannot be a solid. For example a solid red would need a white on white contrast fabric and a red and white print. Make a sample block first out of scrap fabric.

2. The swap will have 16 participants. Sign up will begin immediately and close on September 27. Anyone who wants to sign up for more than one set is welcome to do so; however, the sets will need to use different fabrics - no duplicates.

3. Each participant will make 16 blocks. Please measure carefully and square your blocks to 12-1/2". I suggest making a sample block to be sure that all measurements work out as expected. It will save you lots of heartache and frustration.

4. Blocks are due December 1 so that everyone will have time to complete their quilt by Valentine's Day.

5. Please read through all the instructions and the pages of the Fabric Swap Group (before you commit to the swap. Remember that all the other members of the swap are counting on you. To sign up, please comment on this thread and then friend me. Include your full name, phone number, mailing address, and email so that I can contact you if needed. In my reply, I will send you my same contact information.

6. When you ship your blocks, place each block in a plastic bag with your name and city/state on the outside. Return address labels work great. It lets everyone know who did what and where the blocks have traveled from. All 16 blocks should fit easily in a legal flat rate envelope from the post office. Please include with your blocks a return, postage-paid, self-addressed legal flat rate envelope. You may order these from the USPS online. I suggest that you order them early on in the swap so that you will have them when you complete your blocks.

7. Once I have all the blocks, I will sort them and ship them back as soon as possible.

That's it for the fine print. Please do not hesitate to ask me questions.

Don't pass this one up because of the holiday rush....quilting is cheaper than therapy!

Kathy, do we have to have a solid in the block or can we use two red prints and a white on white?

Great question!  Solids are not required but if used, only one fabric can be solid.

Happy stitchin'

Hello Ladies!

Thanks to Roxanna's talent and time, we now have fabric and cutting requirements for the 16 blocks....here ya go!

Measurements for 16 blocks.... Cutting requirements

White Fabric - 31" but suggest buying a little over for straightening the fabric

Cut (4) 2-1/2" x WOF strips and subcut them into (64) 2-1/2" squares.
Cut (3) 7" x WOF strips and subcut them into (16) 7" squares

Red Fabric #1 - 3/4 yard but suggest buying a little over for straightening the fabric

Cut (2) 7" x WOF strips and subcut them into (8) 7" squares and (4) 6-1/2" squares
Cut (2) 6-1/2" x WOF strips and subcut them into (12) 6-1/2" squares

Red Fabric #2 - 3/4 yard but suggest buying a little over for straightening the fabric

Cut (2) 7" x WOF strips and subcut them into (8) 7" squares and (4) 6-1/2" squares
Cut (2) 6-1/2" x WOF strips and subcut them into (12) 6-1/2" squares

Use your 7" squares to create your HSTs with the red and white.

Thank you Roxanna for the info!

Because I haven't had any new sign-ups for a day or so, I am going to make you all a sweetheart deal.  If you recruit a quilter to participate in the swap between now and Friday, Sept 6-and they must tell me when they sign up that you recruited them, I will include a Valentine FQ in both of your packages.  To be fair, those of you that signed up before today will also get a FQ bonus since you were wise enough to sign up early!

Have a happy Labor Day and get your buds to join us!

Judi-

If you would prefer some pretty red fabric instead of Valentine fabric for your bonus, just let me know!
