Started my Jane journey a little over a year ago. Was inspired by a photo on Green Fairy Quilting showing the completed quilting on a Jane that used Kaffe fabric. Thought I would try one too, but didn't know what I was getting into. That's my usual quilting modus operandi. Using my newly purchased EQ software I did my first block by paper piecing. Took forever... OK... what next... need to be a bit more organized about this.
So decided I wanted a kind of a "rainbow Jane" but not the quite the same as the traditional "Rainbow Jane", so my next step was to lay out my fabrics with 2" squares, then "file" my Kaffe pieces by row and number. I added 2 extra rows on all sides to allow for the triangles, both pieced and solid. Occasionally I make a fabric swap, but mostly stick to the plan Have done about 35 blocks. How do others organize this massive project? I don't want to continue to use my design wall... I need other projects to keep my sanity!
Had to stop for a few months to learn how to paper piece correctly, and then how to applique, and how to use freezer paper. All new skills for this quilter. None of my blocks are perfect, but neither are my grandchildren and I think they are all wonderful!!
Visiting w/ the Grands for the holidays. When I get home I will try more photos of blocks. Need to improve those skills, too.
