Another variation of the 9-patch, quick and easy.

From dearjane.com:  The challenge in this block is choosing a fabric which will be interesting in the large center.

Hand/Machine Piecing: Make by hand, by machine, or by strip piecing. Cut the center square 3-1/2", the corner blocks 1-1/4" square and the outer strips 1-¼" x 3-1/2".

I used the same fabrics for all 4 sides rather than the 2 different ones in the book. Remember it's your quilt, make the block so it is pleasing to you.

Jeanne, nothing wrong with a boring center, it lets the floral edges shine!

Judy, These fabrics you use...are they from a collection, jelly roll kind of thing? They go together with such panache. Are you just gifted?

Jeanne, this block was made with bits and pieces I pulled out of my stash. I am determined to reduce my bits and pieces stash but no matter how many scrappy quilts I make, they continue to breed and multiply. Of course, every time I cut up a large piece of fabric, the scraps go into the bits and pieces so it probably will  never ever go down. I'll leave instructions for my family to bury me in the bits and pieces.

Thanks Jacy. I think it’s from the “Dear Jane” line.

decided to do this one as in the book, no white....-the sides are actually a grey batik -   think it's one of the few without the white!
