This is a spiral quilt with the hummingbird as needle-turned applique with a little stuffing.  The hummingbird has some Liquidtex Iridescent Medium painted on the green and red to make it sparkle.  The wing feathers are drawn on using Inktense pencils.  The eye is a flat bead and the beak is a straight piece of embroidery floss that I stitched on by hand (couched).  The flower is made of yo-yos with a little bit of shading using Inktense pencils and beads in the middle.

This is really stunning, Monica.  The close up tells it all.  Just beautiful!

There are so many things to comment about your wall hanging.

I love how the spiral up with the blues gives the feeling of the bird in flight, and the 3-D effect that the yoyo's add. The hummingbird is a little beauty himself. And lastly I like the octagon shape of it and the fabrics you chose.

Great job!
