Thanks for the info Linny.
Interesting that 3 of you live in the same state. Two of you are pretty close to each other.

One of these days I hope we meet and maybe go to the Lakeland Sewing Expo or something.

Me, too, Stephanie. For Lillie and Diane, I think Florida is a vacation capitol of something...maybe the world. I know it sure seems like the whole world is here during season, lol. There's nothing nicer than florida in the winter and spring. Easy to see why we have so many snow birds.

Those are the key words aren't they, "Winter and spring". LOL.

I wish we could all get together to do quilting.

Me, too.
Me too. That would be fun.
I had mentioned in the my day post that I was going to get some input from all of you. When I do my 12 inch block I want to make it 12 1/2 inches unfinished and baste 2 1/2 inch strips all around using a 1/2 inch seam allowance to allow some extra fabric for hooping. My reason for wanting to do it this way is that I had trouble squaring up my block after the embellishments were added, and thought this might be easier for everyone to know where to stop their stitching on the block. Any thoughts?

That doesn't sound like a problem to me. As long as the work area is 12".
Come to think of it I was going to use one of my precut pices for 12" blocks. I do believe they are 12 1/2, allowing for 1/4" seam allowance. What's an extra 1/2" between friends, right? It's good to mention that we should all be respectful of the outside edge seam allowance when it comes to heavy seam treatments that would be hard to stitch through on the seam allowance. I will be basting mine 1/4" from the edge. It's not so important to me if the finished size isn't exactly 12". I've decided to make a pillow for my bed with the finished block, adding to it as necessary.
