Stephanie:

PS: Forgot to mention I got my block back Lillie. I love everything you girls did. I can't wait to put them together!!! Diane, thank you so much for making a journal for me. I had bought one for this and later realized it was going to be too expensive to mail. I appreciate it very much...

Robin----dress shopping does sound like fun but painstaking.  With these shows I watch, the girls that don't have their mother's with them to shop for a dress are so sad and tearful.  One trick the staff uses is, if the bride loves a dress but is not sure, they "jack her up: meaning they put a veil on and put her hair up---put jewelry on.  That usually helps them feel "feel like a bride".  It's amazing how this works so well.

My girl Toni is doing do well.  We are getting to know each other and things are going more smoothly.  She spends a few hours at the window in the living room and wanted to sleep out there.  I wanted her to come back every night to her spot.  We fought about it for a couple of days and now she comes in like clockwork!  Also when she needs to "go" I am getting to know the signs and am able to get her into the bathtub quickly.  She is beginning to be calmer with that.  She does learn which is better than some.  She is even getting to know the cat as non threatening.  Today, instead of walking around her is a small space, she walked right on her----touching her first to get her to move.  When she wouldn't move, Toni just walked on her  The cat was mildly disturbed.  LOL

My dear friend Karen used to think I was a little crazy talking about my lizard's personalities but she saw a show on animal planet that explained it all.

Linny---I have some great ideas for your block and will start on it today.  Sorry it's coming late.

Linny t:
She doesn't have any pain, she says.  Not even her usual aches, so a blessing there.  Also, she used to smoke her e-cigarette and has forgotten all about it.  Another blessing.  It's that way with her coffee, too.  Isn't that strange?  Her habits just went away without a fight.  God works in mysterious ways, doesn't He?

It's an incredible blessing that she has forgotten all her bad habits. Even more so that she is not in pain. I'd have thought just forgetting the e-cigs and caffeine  alone would have given her a crashing headache. God does work in mysterious ways. Somehow that tumor is saving her from a world of suffering in so many ways.  She is being truly blessed in her illness to have this happen. And to have such a wonderful caring family to be there for her. i can't imagine the suffering you as caretakers are experiencing in watching her slip away on a daily basis. I know God will bless you for it.

Diane:
I enjoyed the party for the leaving staff.  I woke up that morning with a blood sugar of 37.  I had to eat so I couldn't eat at the party.  It was OK.  I got to take a full cup of trail mix home.  It was fun to see my friends in the building.  It's so scary that I live alone and my blood sugar could drop so low that I could go into a coma.  I am still losing weight so I'm sure the need for insulin is lower.  I'm giving myself half of what I need until I see the doctor.  I can't believe I am still losing weight!  I haven't changed my diet since I cut out junk food.  I'm happy.

Oh my goodness Diane. 37 is really low! You should have a "buddy system". My Dad did when he was still alive and living in an apartment like yours. They'd check in with each other every day, and one or two had keys. He trusted everyone. Me not so much. But in certain situations I suppose you have to let that guard down. We (his Kids) all lived at least 5 hours away, so it was good to have this in place.  Because you have pets this would be especially good to do.

On the other side of it, I'm happy that you feel good about losing the weight. I'm fairly certain it's played a big role in having the need for insulin drop. Hope you do get to the doctor soon though to find out how much insulin you should be having. I remember you said you had a pump. How does this play in to factoring how much you need?

Some things I will not be such a push over about, but having the dress that makes you feel beautiful and bridal I think is a must for a girl.    If I can get permission to post a picture I will.

The description of the dress sounds just beautiful Robin. So very happy she found one that will make her feel like a beautiful bride. I hope we can see a picture of it. The bridal place we found Melissa's dress allowed us to post a picture as long as she had purchased it. Look forward to it.

Robin:

Laurie told the doctor that hold story and then got sent for an ultrasound.  There is a growth on either a node or the thyroid that we now have to go back to the specialist to see what is happening.

Oh no. I hope everything's ok. Keep us posted.

Robin:
Stephanie,  Wahoo new paint!   I love new paint.   Can wait to see it.   Also can't wait to see the finished block.

Thank you. I can't wait to see it as well. LOL. We had some life happenings that got in the way. A.K.A. Lawnmower repair in 90 degree heat. At least we have the paint, and it was Mike's birthday today, so it was a no pressure day to get it done. I spent the last part of the day making beer batter chicken wings with hot sauce and some fried mushrooms for him. Celery and blue cheese of course. Doing it all in a fry daddy makes a lot of short drops for chicken, etc. The eclair cake turned out good. A light dessert. Not at all like a real eclair in my book. LOL. But easy to make, and that's  what he wanted.

Happy Sunday to you too!

Stephanie-My usps tracker says your block was delivered this past Thurs. Can you confirm for me please?

I saw Linny brought my post forward, but just in case. Yes, I do have it. My DH had picked it up and had it on his table with other things. Not usual for him. He usually gives me the mail right away.

How are you feeling? I haven't heard a peep out of you since the first day of your operation.

Made me smile reading about Toni getting used to you and a routine. Cats are so funny. For all their natural instincts of "the kill" they are still so adaptable to creatures in their home. I've had cats, birds, ferrets, gerbils, dogs that would all be in the same house and never an incident of attack. Crazy. The cat would go out and kill rats, birds, lizards and things outside. And bring me trophies, ick. But she'd never go after the "pets" in the house.

Isn't it cool that Karen has had an awakening to your pets thru Animal planet. Haven't heard you talk about her much. I was hoping everything was going ok, and you were still hanging out.....

Robin---I misread your post and thought that Laurie  was still deciding between 2 dresses.  It's great that she found the one.  Now you can concentrate on the rest of preparations.

Steph---don't know if the buddy thing would work for me.  I'll see how it goes.  It's unusual for it to be that low.  My doctor always adjusts my pump according to my blood sugar reading over the last 3 months.  They can download it from my pump.  They can see how often I test and how much insulin I take.  Also they know the times.  It's pretty amazing.

I found out today that Nellie is "with eggs" again.  She is getting pretty big.  I felt one egg and it will probably be a couple of weeks.  I hope this time they have stronger shells.

Robin, how exciting about the dress.  You are so right that a girl should be able to get the dress that makes her feel like a beautiful bride.  Other things you can cut back, but not the dress.

About Laurie, I'm so sorry they found this.  I pray it's nothing scary, but I know you must be scared already.  Keep us posted.  You and Laurie are in my prayers, dear.

Barb loved the soup and said it made her house smell like home.  She had a good day today and was more like herself than I've seen her in awhile.  She still couldn't verbalize well, but I understood what she was trying to say most of the time.  She seemed stronger, too.  She gave me a great big hug when I left.  Even for as weak as she is it was strong.  I loved that.

Not sure I mentioned this before. I went in for thyroid surgery last Fri (June 20). They had to take the entire thyroid out. The pathology finally came back and I have stage 3 thyroid cancer. Stage 3 thyroid cancer is no where near stage 3 breast cancer. I have an appt with the oncologist July 10. When I went to see the surgeon for my post op, he felt that July 10 was a good date for my appt with the oncologist. The surgeon was extremely encouraging about curing my cancer. The oncologist put me on a cancellation list. If there is a cancellation, they'll get me in sooner. If not, I'll see her July 10.

Some of you know that I am working at a longarm quilting shop. My boss called to ask how I was doing, and I told her about my situation. I was expecting her to say, well, you need to focus on your health, so don't bother coming in. Instead, praise my Lord and Savior, she said You need to take care of yourself, anytime you want to be here working I want you to come. If you can't make it, just call me and I will take care of everything for you.  I have said several times that this is a job that was sent directly to me from God.

How am I feeling? To be honest, I'm rather blazay about the whole thing. I will do whatever is needed to promote healing. Changing my diet and taking whatever meds are directed by the oncologist. Other than that I leave myself in the merciful hands of my Lord.

I will keep everyone posted as things move forward.

How exciting, Diane.  Hope her shells are better this time, too.  Is there any supplement you can give her for this?

Lillie,

I'm sorry to hear about this.   I know it couldn't have been the news you were hoping for.   I will be praying for a complete healing and restoration for you.  It was so good that the store called and was so supportive about everything, that has to be a comfort.   But please don't over to do let your body heal.

Robin

Good Morning to all of you,

Seems like it was time to get up and get moving.   I have one week until we leave for Nationals so there is plenty to do around my house.  I sure hope that you all are off to a good start of the week.

So permission has been granted to reveal the dress, so here she is.....

She was so funny because she thought I liked another one,  when I knew two weeks ago when she put this one on it was the dress.   She said I was a sneaky mom.

The one she has on is to long so we had it factory alternate for her height.  The veil is the length that she wants I just have to make it.

I had a lot of fun yesterday working on Lillie's block.  Hope to finish it and have it on it's way home before the week is up.

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes for Laurie.  I will be coveting those prayers.   I'm trying not to let it become the issue in out lives unless it has to.   I read a quote on FB that really spoke to me "Worrying is to use your imagination to create something you don't want."   So I've been practicing imagining things I do want.

Have a great day.

Robin

The dress is beautiful and so is she!  I was hoping to enlarge it so I could see more of the details, but it wouldn't do it.  Sometimes if you click on it, it will enlarge.   I heard a saying similar about worry.  I have "tried" to live by it.

Lillie, so sorry to hear of your report; it sounds like you have a good attitude about how you are going to handle it. I think a positive attitude helps a lot.  (((((Lillie))))
