Diane, it's an ornament exchange.  We're making one for each person who's in it.  So Robin made one for me and Stephanie.  I'm making one for Robin and Stephanie and Stephanie's making one for Robin and me.  After we get them, we'll post picks.  It'll be before Christmas, so not long.  I am working on my 2nd one now and hope to put a lot of time into it this weekend.  With Audra having surgery my time is being occupied a lot tending to her and to Nate.  Lots of running around for me.  I'll be happy when she's back to normal.  I could not be a mommy any more.  It plum wears me out, lol.  It must be nice living in a city.  I've never done that.  So nice not to need a car, I bet.

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm up and moving this morning but a little slower than yesterday, mainly because I can.   We had our third restaurant day yesterday.   Oven Fried Chicken, Hashbrown Casserole, Broccoli and  Parmesan Crusted Bread Sticks, Oh and for dessert, Sour Cream Pound Cake with Berrie Sauce and Cream.  Everyone declared it was wonderful as usual.   It's a lot of fun to see people come in eat and enjoy their meal and company with other staff members.   They need some time for personal interaction that is not required by a meeting or assigned duty.   The kids have a ball cooking serving and even cleaning.

Diane,  Your little boys are very cute and healthy looking.   And I think stocking filled with meal worms and crickets are the perfect gift for any lizard.

Lillie,  Joy to the world the lights are hung!

Linny,  Yep Motherhood is definitely for the young.   In our community I see so many kids that are living with grandparents and not getting a lot of parenting because the grandparent is simply tired.   They can't do ball games and practices and dance lessons and discipline the way they  once could.   Even at my age I don't think I could start the whole parenting thing over, I just don't have the patience or the fortitude.

Stephanie,  I'm so excited can't wait to see my ornament.

Jo,  Glad to here your doing so well.

Also while I'm confessing about my absences.  My mood has not been the best the last few days.  I'm changing around on some of my medications and was doing really good but started taking a dive on Saturday and seem to spiral downward for several days.   So life here at the castle has been a little bumpy.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Robin

This meal sounds so yummy my mouth actually watered, lol.  So glad the kids have a good attitude with the whole process.  It sounds like a grand performance.

You know, I've been struggling with my emotions, too, and feeling a bit overwhelmed.  Wonder if it's part Christmas pressure on top of the usual pressures.  Glad you're on the up-swing now :)  TGIF!!!

Stephanie:

We are each making one for the three of us. Mine was an experiment in creating a pattern and seeing if I could work it out. It did work out and I've kept the original copy so that if any of you would like to have a copy of it to make one I can photocopy and send it to you. I've drawn the fabric placement lines and you're welcome to use those, or create your own.

So does this mean the everyone will end up with 3 ornaments each?  I would love to see the pattern.

Good Morning Everyone,

The world is alive and wake.  I've already had company this morning.  As I was pouring my cereal a rain frog appeared from out of no where and said good morning.  I escorted him to the door and helped it out into his portion of the property.   He was so cute hopping around.

Donn and I went shopping after we got of work yesterday and got quite a lot of my Christmas shopping done.   I've got to order some stuff off line and I'll be well on the way to finish.   Provide I can spend sometime sewing today.

Linny,  I don't think it's the holidays as much as the realization that the girls are rapidly getting ready to move out of the nest for good.   I keep thing this is the last year they will be at home when in reality I probably have at least one more maybe two.   And no I don't wish I could slow them down as much as I wish I had better prepared myself for this stage of life.

I hope you all have a Super Saturday.

Robin

Good Morning Ladies,

I laid down early last night (9) and go awake at 2 a.m. and went to the recliner and now I feel groggy, because I didn't sleep well.

Robin, I know what you are meaning about the girls......my middle son's youngest one just went to college in Sept and it is only 20 minutes from home, but she is living on campus because he thought it would be better than worrying about her driving all the time. They live in Indianapolis.  Now he says she doesn't call or come home like he thought she would.  Just remember the old saying....... "A daughter is a daughter all her life, but a son is a son till he gets him a wife."  So your girls will always be close to you from the way it seems from hearing you talk about your life.  I often wonder what it would have been like to have a daughter, 3 sons for me.  My middle son has always been the most caring of the three;  calls more often, etc.

Lillie sounds like you are getting a lot of snow out your way.  We are getting rain.

I ordered a new cutting mat and some other goodies. As soon as I get them I am going to start sewing. I saw some strip pieced/stuffed square Christmas ornaments on line and I think I will make some of them only make hearts for my kids/grandkids. So they have a keepsake from me; I thought hearts because of my surgery. I will put the year on them also.  BIG plans, I hope I get them done.   Hugs, Jo

Actually two, unless we make one for ourselves.

I don't suppose there's any harm in posting the pattern. I've made it so it's a mirror image and can be stitched all at one time and then folded in half. It's an elf stocking.

Hopefully it'll post before this computer freezes on me again.

She so lucky to have had you to care for her and Nate. I couldn't be a mommy any more either. Makes me wonder how I did it and worked when I was young. I remember being sick a lot back then. The store I worked at refused to let you go if it was still busy when it was time for you to leave. I'd get to the day care exhausted from the sea of people I'd dealt with all day, late, and they'd be mad at me.  The of course we had baseball, football, and all the extra activities that help them grow into fine, disciplined young men. Just on the go all the time.

Robin,

Sounds like another successful meal and lots of happy patrons and servers. Wonderful.

I'm so sorry to hear about your issues with med's. I know it's so hard to keep a balance with them. Seems like they work for a while, and our systems get used to them and they stop working. What timing to have it happen at the holidays, huh?

Cute reading about your early visitor. And how about you, having most of your shopping done. I'm not sure we can prepare ourselves for an empty nest. It's just heart breaking no matter what. Paul was in and out a few times during the course of college and moves. I don't think it ever got easier missing his sunshine face during the day.

He'll be on duty this Christmas day. Won't be quite the same...

That would make three of us. Seems to be letting up a bit now.

Jo,

It's wonderful to hear you are contemplating some sewing and have a batch of goodies coming your way. The hearts sound like a lovely idea.

Hope you get your sleep schedule worked out. I've had some crazy ones like that lately. Falling asleep at 7 and getting up at 1 or 2 am. I get like that sometimes when I'm over whelmed, or feeling very creative. I just stay up now, because like you said, going back to sleep makes for a miserable groggy day.

As for my neck of the woods, it's been a tough week, but things are turning around.

I finished the wood grain on the doors of the church and was pleasantly surprised when the sewing group showed up and we were all able to work together without my having to pack up and leave. They were wonderfully complimentary of my work, even the one I was having difficulty with in the past couple weeks. I'm so happy that the experience ended on a happy note.

One of my doggies had been sick for a few days and now another. Too much extra cleaning and sanitizing, but what can you do? I've had floors covered everywhere, but there's also that feeling that they go everywhere and may be tracking. Overwhelming, to say the least. But at least one is better while the other is just starting and no expense of the vet at this time. That's a blessing in itself right now.

So, after I get all my extra chores done, it's back to ornaments for me.

Hope you all have some Happy time to yourselves today......

Here are pictures of the work I did on the RR block.

I am finally getting around to complimenting you on your beautiful work. It is really nice and so delicate. Maybe I will do some fancy stitching on the hearts I am planning on making for my kids/grandkids.  I hope you are having a good day with your babies.  Hugs, Jo

I'm sure you'll be fine when it does happen.  After being needed by our children for so many years it's hard to imagine what our lives are for without them in the house.  Time for a new chapter.  I read something the other day about that.  It was a quote that said something like you can't write the next chapter in your life if you spend all your time reading the one's you've already written.

You are so on your game all the time, Robin.  I really admire you for that.  I haven't bought anything yet.  I tried to on cyber Monday, but everything I tried to buy was out of stock by noon.  I had trouble with that all the way until Wednesday when it finally occured to me that Christmas would be fine if I didn't get those particular things for gifts.  I have a new plan now and that's to let Christmas dictate itself to me, like I do with quilts.  I'm going to let the season tell me what it wants to be.

Today Audra, Nate and I put up Christmas and it was delightful.  I haven't put up lights outside since Ricky passed.  The three of us managed to put some up on the front porch.  Nate was the little man and helped with every bit of it.

I hope your Saturday was super, too, and you found some time to sew.
