That's sad about Tito. I know you must have had mixed feelings about leaving him at the vets. I hope they are able to cure him and eventually find him a good home with the rescue centers.

How exciting about the baby's. What do 1000 chirping crickets sound like? Do you leave them outside in their box? Do you have a special place to keep the crickets? What do crickets eat?

Lillie:
I did print out Diane's block so I can see how it was sewn.

Sorry I missed this. Have you ever seen the woven wheel/ woven spider web stitch? Here's a link: http://www.needlenthread.com/2012/07/woven-wheel-stitch-video.html

I used the same concept only I started with straight lines spaced across the box and came back and wove the thread in and out like a basket..

Diane,

Sorry to hear about your day with Tito. You did the best you could, and maybe left with a glimmer of hope for him to be rescued and healed.

It's so fun to read about the babies. Sounds like pretty soon they'll be gobbling up those crickets. How old do they have to be to sell? The neat thing is you can hand pick your own sweet baby out of the batch if you decide to keep one.

It was great to hear that your speech went well. I'd rather be boiled in oil than speak in Public and admire anyone that can do that. Kudo's to you for doing it and sharing your story.

Linny t:
I think I might just have to buy a few of those

LOL. I know! LOL. I kept going thru the pages oohing and aweing at some of them. Mermaids, flip flops, crabs, turles and shells. Oh my. LOL

Linny t:
I've taken real shells and glued threads on the back with E-6000 and then run the threads through the fabric.  It's a little fussy, but they're authentic.

That's a great idea. I'd have never thought of that. I have one of those little dremel tools and thought of trying to drill through, but haven't done it yet.

When you do, do it under water, like a shallow pan.  It'll help your drill and the particles are not good for you to breath.

Diane, sorry to hear about Tito, but it's for the best.  I'm glad they're going to deal with his health issues and find him a home.  Who knows.  They may find a home for him with exactly what he needs.

Now, what about those 1000 crickets?  Are they alive?

Glad to hear your presentation went well.  I'd choose cheese cake over spicy any day...in fact I'd choose it over most things any day, lol.

Oh thank you. I never thought of that, and I imagine a speck in the eye might be like splintering glass.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for all the support about Tito.  He will the last iguana that I'll have.  Tito grew so much when I had him and he is so strong.  I get sick in the winter and iguanas take a lot of work. Now I have to see his beautiful habitat.  I'm going to advertise on Craig's list and my vet will put a sign up there.  She is a specialist for rabbits and reptiles.  But that place is state of the art.  They have a physical therapy for the animals where they do physical therapy.  There is a pool for dogs to work out and have no pressure on their injury.  They have a larger poo too.  It's interesting to see what they can do with animals now.

I counted today 9 baby dragons.  I have to pat my self on the back! lol  It was so much worry care for these eggs.  They still arent eatting yet.  The vet said they have a yolk sacks in their bellies so they aren't hungry yet.

How I'll care for the crickets is keep the main box in my bath tub and take them and transfer them to a smaller plastic container to feed out of. I'll put sliced  potato in the box they come in.  I'll put calcium and multivitamins  on the potato when I put them in the smaller box so the babies will get that.

Lillie---I love my Under the Sea block. All the work on the block is so gorgeous.  I will treasure it always.  Thank you RR ladies for such a wonderful gift!

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that your day is off to a great start and that you have many fun activities planned for your weekend.

I'm fixing to head out to school and put it several hours.  It seems like I'm having a hard time keeping up this year but I think it is simply that I have implement so many new things at one time and that once they get started working then I'll be able to manage and be better organized in the long run.

I'm been putting in some time on my purse.  I'm having fun just sitting and stitching.  Instead of completely planning what I want to do I'm kinda of playing it by ear, which is a little nerve racking but also a lot of fun because nothing has to turn out exactly as I've planned.  I think there is a freedom in that.

Diane,  Your little dragon is so cute.  I had to show him to Donn last night.  He loves iguanas and dragons and such.  He got a pick kick out of the picture.

Jo,  Your thongs sound very intriguing.   I love my flip flops unfortunately they don't work well for teaching because of having to stand on your feet all day.

Linny,   How's things going with Barb?   I think about you guys often.

Lillie,  Has the temperature dropped in your area?  And how's the sewing room coming?  I need pictures so I can drool.

Off and running,

Robin

I can only imagine with all the classes and different subjects how much planning and work this all takes on the side lines. Hope everything works out for you and you get everything finished that you need to.

Playing it by ear is how I've done all my blocks. It can be a little nerve racking, can't it? The times I've tried to plan, Ive even taken pictures of things all laid out and done something different anyway. That's where my razy part comes in. LOL. I think there is freedom in just winging it. It's going to turn out beautiful anyway you work it. Good to hear that you are enjoying the stitches.

Sounds like Tito is in loving hands. So, you won't use the habitat for the bearded dragons?

I can't believe you have 9 babies. That's pretty incredible, and yes you do deserve a BIG pat on the back. WTG. It's so interesting to learn about them for instance the yolk sacks in their tummies and the crickets. Fun to share your joy in them as well.

And right back at you, and the rest of the girls from me too!

Thank you Stephanie.

You're welcome. Happy to share. Are you doing an under sea block for you, or part of an RR?

I'd love to see some pic''s of your sewing room too. We're you able to get your table built? And has it worked out well for you?

Well, lets see....

Today we went to watch my nephew play football. The tiny leagues. Six and seven years old. They're all set up with uniforms and helmets just like the big guys, and have tiny little cheerleaders to cheer them on. Cute, just too cute. Brings back memories of Paul at that age for sure. Football, baseball, soccer.

They (Brother, SIL, and nephew) were originally going to come out to my house after for brunch, but had to cancel. My brother had pending cabinets to finish. That's ok, there will be other times.

I've been plugging away at the little embroidery. One bird left to go and I'll post a pic for you.

Outside of that, life is pretty day to day. Just the way I like it. :0)

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
