Stephanie, you made me chuckle with your comments about it being too cool for you to paint Friday.  I enjoyed 50+ degree weather when I went out for my Black Friday shopping.  It actually cooled off later in the day.  Funny that before the sun came up was the warmest of the day.  It was almost spring like rather than November weather.  I was not even wearing a coat.  Just a hooded sweatshirt.

Black Friday was a good experience.  My lack of "need" for retail therapy did not prevent me from spending some money.  I found some Christmas prints which I had not seen previously at our local JoAnn's.  Just could not resist a yard of each.  Will make a tree skirt and matching table runner from what I bought.  I ended up buying a new Ott light for $19.99/regular retail $99.99.  Total spent $62.69, total saved $150.42.  Not bad.  And I did feel slightly better when I got home.

Tim's visiting nurse came Friday morning shortly after I got home from shopping.  He had to have fasting blood work done so he had no breakfast.  I was scrambling eggs for him after she left when the phone rang.  My mom called to ask me to take her to ER.  When I told her I was making breakfast, she said there was no hurry.  I did rush Tim slightly with eating [not the best thing to do right now but I felt a bit of urgency in her voice]  When we got to the hospital she told the triage nurse that she was feeling fluttering since she got up at 6:30 that morning.  I knew the answer so I did not ask why she didn't call sooner.  Or better yet, call 911 instead of me. But, she didn't want to "bother" me or take me away from Tim when he needs me "more".

Long story short, she was admitted and spent the night in the hospital.  They discharged her Saturday about 10 AM.  Needed/wanted the bed for someone who was really sick.  She is retaining fluids and this is causing extra strain on her heart.  She needs to take fluid pills and get things down.  She gave me a scare today because she went downstairs without her phone so she didn't call when I checked on her this morning.  It was hours before we finally spoke and I felt better.

Tim's mom is the exact opposite.  She is feeling so alone right now that she is being more needy than ever.  She calls for things that distract me and frustrate me.  Then she tells me that I need to "take 5 minutes" for myself.  I wanted to tell her that if I wasn't running over to her apartment to take care of things that could wait, I might have 5 minutes for myself. Unfortunately, I never know if this is truly something which can wait until I get there.   I have dear friends who keep asking me what they can do to help.  When I was spouting this morning about my MIL, one told me that she would happily go over the next time to take care of the crisis which isn't really a crisis.  I hate to put my friend in that position but may take her up on it if it happens again too soon.

Well, guess I should shut down the computer and get some sewing done.  I have a full size quilt begging to be quilted.  With the table opened up and cleared off, this is the ideal time to do it.  Then it will be ready for the open house which is going to be here before I know it.  I am actually looking forward to the distraction of sewing to get things finished.

Sending wishes of a good week to all of you.  Can you believe December 1st is this week.  Where did the year go to??

I will try to get in and post again soon.  Just too tempting to flip here and there once I log in and before I know it I have been here for over an hour.  Then I feel guilty for wasting the time.  I know it is not a waste of time because it gives my mind a break.  But this time of year, there is so much fabric calling me to stitch it and so little time.

Darlene,

I don't know how you have the sense to run a business when you are doing nursing care for three people.   You are absolutely amazing.   I am so impressed with the way you manage everything and still find time to run a business.  By now I would be at my wits end.    I can tell that your faith has certainly been your strength.   I appreciate so much what you shared with Diane about going to church.   I'm really struggling with that right now and your words really offered guidance to me.

Linny,

Sounds like a very productive weekend.   I love the idea of a Gramma Christmas.  I bet Nate will too!

Diane,

I hadn't thought about the bath tub, but I bet it would work.  I used to have friends who kept their litter box in the bath tub so the litter would get all over the house.   Sounds like you had a great day at church.  Hope your tooth extraction goes well.

Lillie,

I love to watch snow falling.  It creates such a peaceful sense of wonder.

Stephanie,

Here's hoping for a less busy week for you.

Sleep well everyone.

Robin

Here it is almost bedtime and look at all the chats. It was wonderful to read all of them. I had to stay down with some back issues today, but better now.

Linny,

You must have been crazy busy this weekend with all of the decorating. It was so inspiring to read about your days with it.

Diane,

Good for you making the day in church. That makes for most of the day going. As much as Tito doesn't like baths, the bathtub may be the solution to feed ing the cat. Otis gets in ours all the time. Glad you had a good day with the kids.

Lillie,

Oh boy, snow! I loved the first snows of the holidays. So fresh and white. And the lights just twinkle off of it.

Jo,

I may have to use the box idea over the litter. Thanks for mentioning it.

Robin,

Thank you. I think we'll be really busy 'till March the way things are looking. Then it will be tax time again. Our RR is such a pleasant distraction to it all, isn't it?

Darlene,

I am so with Robin in her sentiment of how you manage to take care of three people the way you do and try to run a business. I think there would be days that I couldn't even poke my head out from under the covers. God Bless you!!!!

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep, and prayers out to all, just because I care......

Good Morning Everyone,

Well another sleepless night.  So funny how they come and go.   Anyway up and going.   Hope this pump of energy last through the day.

Ok as for the events in this house this week.   School of course.  Then additionally daughters getting ready for college finals,  Family night for FCCLA at school Tuesday, Mentor meeting Wednesday afternoon, and we leave for a meeting in Orlando on Friday.   Oh yeah progress reports on Friday.   Plus we're expecting the new superintendent to pop in sometime between now and Christmas, excuse me Winter Break.  Anyway, we'll see how it all goes.   One good thing about being up at 3 I was able to buy the kids some flannel at $2.00 a yard for them to make baby blankets at Joann's Cyber Sale.

Also I have the most creative thoughts at that time of night.  I had a group who needed a community service project.  I've been toying with how to expand it and what to call in for a while.  Last night it came to me out of the blue (or is in black).  The project is a collection of community service projects from the reason canned food drive, to the baby blankets, to a Christmas Party for special needs kids to scarves for the elderly.   And since all these relate to families and family is the central theme of FCCLA the title will be "The Heart of the Matter".

Anyway that's what I do when I can't sleep.

Have a great day everyone.

Robin

Looks like the site has been down all day. I tried to reply to Robin's post and it never posted.

Robin,

The Heart of the Matter sounds like a perfect name for your community service project. WTG. Sounds like you'll have some busy days ahead. Good luck to the girls on their exams.

Thanks Stephanie,

I told the kids about my late night brainstorm and they were so excited.  It is so good to work with kids who get excited about doing something for someone else.

I hope everyone's day went well.  It's pizza for supper tonight and properly an early beddy by for me.

The site has been down since 11:30 this morning.  Wonder what happened.

Robin, when you talk about your week I find myself saying "No wonder she can't sleep", lol.  You are one busy lady.  The Heart of the Matter is a perfect name for a family oriented project.  How cool you have kids who get excited about community service.  That's rare, I think.  Hope you enjoy your pizza and sleep like a log.

That's wonderful Robin. It's very uplifting to hear. There are a lot of wonderful kids out there. I wish the news would show their works instead of focusing on the bad. Especially at the holidays. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the whole theme changed?

Hope you enjoy your pizza and get some rest.

I don't know, it seemed better lately and bam. LOL. Still tonight it's slow and I've been getting error messages. Oh well.

While I was waiting for the page to load I clicked on a link that I had bookmarked. The Nifty Stitcher. I thought you ladies might enjoy the embellished pillow in her latest post. Here's the link: http://rhianontaylor.blogspot.com/  I thought it was really pretty. She seems quite a talent by looking through some of her posts.

Going to keep this one short, since the site's not right. Hope everyone's had a great day.

I've been unable to get on here all day!  I have been working on my jewelry making because there's going to be a community sale here on Dec 8th so I'll be able to have a table and sell!!  We have done this before here and it's usually a little better than a yard sale but some people sell their own products.  I have a lot to sell so it's exciting.

I was checking out Brooklyn NY this morning and found that the house that my father grew up in is apparently not there!  The whole area are office buildings and restaurants!

Sometimes I landed in a restaurant and was able to see the diners and the prices of the foods on the wall.  It's a lot of fun!

Have a good night everyone!

Diane,

Sounds like you've been keeping busy! It's exciting to hear about the community sale. Hope you do well! Are you going to sell earrings, or have you added to your collection?

Google Earth sounds like a lot of fun. Pretty cool to see the diners and the prices of foods on the walls.

Gooooood Morning!

Thank you Linny,  I did sleep like a log.  Only woke up when I turned over.

I must have been truly tired because I wouldn't have normally slept so hard with one of my kids so upset.   Since you all of such good people and praying people I want to share what's going on with my Laurie with you.   Even though she graduated with a degree in Psychology from FSU she needs a Master's to really work in the field she wants.  One of the reasons that she chose VSU was it would allow her to get a Master's in school counseling and then a specialist in school psychology.   At the beginning of the semester she really didn't know which one she wanted.   But as it has progress she decided that she really preferred school psy over counseling.  She had be reassured on several occasions by the school psy professor that what she was trying to achieve was possible.  Then last night learned that VSU has decided to close their school psy program.   She came home very upset and uncertain about the calling on her life.   She has tried to get into FSU's program, last Spring and didn't make the cut.  She can try again but you know the old saying once bitten, twice shy.     She really just needs a spirit of peace, but also a spirit of determination and confidence.  I sure you know how difficult it can be to have more questions than answers.

Other than that life at the Smith house is normal and everyone is healthy so we're blessed.

Linny,

I hope you all get good news today from Barb's appointment.

Diane,

I'm going to have to try this google earth thing one day really soon.  Sounds like a great way for me to visit Alaska anytime I want.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging word about my kids.  I appreciate your support more than you know.

lol. When I arrived at my sister's last week, we had pizza for dinner that night. The next day we went shopping and had pizza for lunch. Then had an engagement that evening and they served pizza for dinner. I was totally pizza'd out. Now my BIL teases me about having pizza for a meal. When I'm at home, we might have pizza once every two months.  lol

Carol Ann Waugh teaches a class on Craftsy  on how to do that technique. I think she calls it Stitch n Slash. I enrolled in that class, but found it very difficult to slash through the layers with a seam ripper, Carol Ann's weapon of choice. You rip through one layer at a time, but still difficult with a seam ripper. Carol Ann likes all the frayed edges. I was less impressed with the outcome.
