I was wondering about these.  Where did you get them again?  It's been awhile.

Thank you Kris.

Linny,

I bought them as bundles 1/2 yard each color from the www.missouriquiltco.com  I watched daily as they put them on sale for $19.99  a bundle. They are 3 to 3 1/2 yard bundles. They are going for a price of around $16.00 a yard on some sites. Probably because of the silk. I love how they are shaded. I haven't tried to needle them yet, but will let you all know when I do.

My Stash runneth over...

My mother asked for a Memory Jacket for her 80th birthday.  With the exception of the charms, I was able to complete most of the jacket embellishment from The Stash.

This is the lower front.  Each of the elements celebrates an event in her life.  She played the trumpet in high school.  The musical cleft and quarter note indicate her continued interest in music.  She currently conducts her community's choir.

The small cross stitch sampler commemorates the reproduction samplers she stitched that hang in her home.  It contains a pig and a chicken - she grew up on a farm in Iowa and we always heard stories of the chickens and the pigs!

The undersea scene is because all of our family vacations were to the ocean!

There are more pictures and details on my blog, The Destashification Project, although I will have to post more tomorrow as I seem to have neglected to take pictures of the whole jacket.

susan,

This is such a clever idea!  Can you show us a picture of the whole jacket?

Thank you for such lovely comments.

I posted photos of the jacket front and back and a few other details on The Destashification Project. The photos were too large to post herein.

We gave the jacket to my Mom this weekend.  She had a great time trying to determine what each of the embellishments meant!

I never heard of the Destashification Project, but I love it!  I  think I need several!!  And the jacket is absolutely wonderful. I love the idea of using CQ as  part of a bigger project. Your embellishments are really wonderful! Joyce

Susan,

Thanks for the pictures.  The little jacket is so cute.  I bet your mom looks adorable in it.

I ordered some from Evening Star and wanted to show about it.  They have a new thing called "Grab Bags".  They are between $10 and $13 and I've been wondering if they were worth it, so finally ordered 2.  Here are pics.

All in all I was really pleased.  It was well worth the price and there are items, especially the threads & flosses that I have wanted to try, but didn't want to spend the $.  They are good quality, like Krenik, Nordic Needle, Threadworxs.  Fun to play with.  There are ample little beads & buttons, too.  The green one has little green applique leaves, too.

In short, I would order again.

I also got a Fancy Fabrics pack in Pearl.  It was $9.99.

As you can see, a good variety.  The one on the bottom is a velvet.   There is also some brocades, dupioni, satin, etc.  10 eights in all.  A nice way to build CQ stash.

Anyway, just wanted to share.  As they say, ff you can't sew, then buy more stash, lol.
