I just noticed this thread!  I will go through my orphan blocks tote and look for small ones and see what I can make up tonight. I forgot that I had the insulated batting until i read your tutorial.  Give me a couple hours and I'll try to post some pics.   I cannot wait for the place mats next month! I want to make napkins and possibly a table runner  to go with them :)
