Hi, Marilyn - sorry for being so long in getting the block to you - unfortunately complications from my surgery have slowed me right down :( However, am finally back sewing a bit, but it is extremely frustrating to have time off work, and NOT be able to do any sewing/quilting.
No worries Pat, sorry to hear your surgery has slowed you down. I have been so busy. My kitchen and bathroom are almost done. Just waiting on countertop and kitchen sink. It seems that I lost a bunch of cupboard space so am having to decide what stays and what goes. On top of that my MIL fell and broke a hip so have been to the hospital daily. On the bright side, my daughter announced her engagement so that is good.
Take your time. I am not going anywhere and doing it slowly.
Marilyn - good for you with getting the kitchen and bathroom done! That is a MAJOR undertaking!! Would you like to come and help with ours when you're done? LOLOL
So sorry to hear about your MIL - how is she doing? Is she out of the hospital yet?
Congratulations on your daughter's engagement! Have they set a date yet?
My kitchen is almost done. They are coming to measure for countertops and are putting in a new window today. I am so glad DH has dealt with most of workers as I have been working and he is semi-retired. I did the planning he just says so who is coming today dear LOL. I don't want to go thru it again any time soon but we had execllent help from Lowes and I would recommend them for the quality of the cabinetry and the installers they got for us were fabulous, although a lot depends on the installers and people in your area. I am having a heck of a time finding cover plates for my light switches and plug outlets. I found ones I like but they only come in the sizes I need in the States. I will have to see if I can get them shipped up somehow.
It is not looking good for MIL. She is 90 and is not responding well. The surgery went very well but she is not moving like she should be and sunday night she was up all night with a cough. We are preparing.
DD and soon to be SIL have planned for April 2013 so lots of time to plan the wedding. My DD went thru school as an event planner before she decided she wanted to get into enviromental tech so she can plan her own wedding which is good. After doing it for her schooling she decided small is better so it won't cost a ton which is even better.
Anyway hopefully I can quilt this weekend. My dad told me about a quilt show in Toronto this weekend but not sure I will make it in. Here is the url if anyone is interested http://www.yhqg.org/Celebration/quiltshow2011/celebrationXI.html
All the best to you and your family Marilyn. Dealing with your ailing mother in law is not fun and I hope things will go the best that could be expected.
Show us photos of your kitchen when it's done.

SO, all you guys sending me a block, get it out soon so I can start putting things together. Hope you are all fairing well getting ready for the holidays.
So glad to hear your MIL is doing better. It is such a worry for the entire family when there is an illness like that, especially at that age.
Your kitchen sounds like it will be gorgeous when it's done, Marilyn!
Infected teeth are not fun - nor are root canals! I have to admit that my new dentist is great - she sends me to a specialist who handles problem root canals like me. The last root canal I had about 15 years ago took over 9 hours, and the one I had done this year took 45 minutes - with the same problems with my teeth. Thank goodness for technology!
Finally got my quilt finished for Quilts of Valour, so got that shipped off. Unfortunately, Marilyn, my Canadiana Block has been put on the back burner for a few more days :(.I'm trying frantically to get all my Christmas presents done before next week, when I head back to work :( :(. Dr. says I'm good to go, so...hopefully I win the lottery!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Pat - Such a lovely job on your Quilt of Valor. Really like the symmetry of the half triangles and the colors - blue and white. Fabulous work.

Thank you, Kim. I love blues, so try and use it a lot.
Pat that is stunning. Thank you for doing that for our people in uniform. What a long time for a root canal. mine was done 20 years ago and only took 2 sessions of about an hour each. I am doing well and am thinking about starting putting the blocks together. I am still one block shy so if you want to do a rough sketch of what your block would look like I can try to do it justice. I know this is a hard time to send stuff by mail as well. If it does not get done over the holidays...oh well. we have waited this long a little longer won't make any difference. Believe me I have plenty of other stuff to work on as well.
Hope you all have a great holiday.
Hi, all - hope you all had a good Christmas.
Haven't been able to do too much sewing - unfortunately, am back to work after my time off due to surgery :(.
Marilyn, I'm hoping to get that block to you - my poor sewing machine is gathering dust and feeling neglected with the lack of use it's had. My Mom passed away Dec 13, and between her being ill, and my mastectomy, wasn't up to sewing. However, I'm getting back in the mood, and am hoping to get it and some late Christmas presents finished.
Take care all
Pat so sorry to hear about your mom, I know how hard it is. My mom passed 3 years ago this september and there are still times I find myself wanting to call her. Glad you are better, sounds like it has been a rough ride. Sewing always makes life easier, something that I turn to when I am happy and sad. I look forward to your block and take your time, I still have at least one other coming in from out East. I hope your new year brings you some good times.
HI Pat, My condolences on the passing of your Mother. It is very hard to lose a parent at any time, but near the Holiday Season, makes it really rough. Hopefully 2012 and every year from here on out will be much kinder to you and yours..Grayce
Thank you, Grayce and Marilyn.
It is very strange not to pick up the phone to call Mom, or to go into town to see her a few times a week.
I am FINALLY back on the computer - mine decided to crash over Christmas - thank goodness for Jeff's computer for at least catching up with e-mails. However, I have a new beastie, and it seems to be quite good - although changing from XP to Windows 7 takes a bit of getting used to.
Hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve! Here's to much happy sewing in the New Year!
Pat - I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I'm glad you're starting to feel better and that you want to get back to your sewing. That's a good thing!
