Thank you also Jean and Helen. This is my standard border that I use with 8" blocks to make up the 38 x 44" wheelchair sized top. I now have standard borders for 6", 8", 10" and 12" blocks. I use 9 - 12" blocks with the same borders as with 6" blocks. I like to put a small border on these quilts to tie them together. A 1" border top and bottom on 4 - 12" blocks long makes the quilt too long for most for wheelchairs. They would be fine for recliners.

Very nice Marsha. I like the pinwheels and the red borders too.

Jean and Marsha~~your string quilts are looking great! Amazing to see the different ways to set them together, isn't it? I'm still working on the dark one, had to make some more blocks t o make the size I wanted, almost finished now. I love to see the empty places where the scraps used to be, too!
If you stare at Marsha's quilt long enough it morphs into hourglasses then morphs back to pinwheels. Really interesting.
I couldn't stand it so have sewed up more snakes and will be pairing them with a dark teal blender fabric I have that doesn't go with anything else. Not sure how it will work out, but it will be different. I'll probably be asking for help in border colours. I have company coming next week so might be after that before I can get the top sewn, but stay tuned for more developments!
Marsha-SM:Here is my top. Probably have enough 4" strips sewn together to make another.
This is beautiful Marsha.
Finally got the dark one done ~~ yesterday, hurried out to the cabin and took the photo, then didn't have time to get on here to post it. This is really a good way to use up the strips and I'm sure this won't be my last one! But like Belfreybat's with teal triangles, each one can look different, sounds like a nice one, BB. Large floral prints always go well for borders. Mine was big enough like this, it's big on my queen size, so didn't need any more borders.
I forgot to say, Marsha, I like yours, too -- red is always good with scraps and pin wheels looks great! Here is a better photo of the small String X I made the same method of strips. Funny how the pictures and words switch around when you post!
Carol, I like yours a lot! The colors work great together!
Carol, I like both your quilts. The Dark background looks great with the colors. I also like how you have done the other one also. Doesn't look like you did that tube-style. I think my second one will have a black background or some dark fabric that goes with the scraps. I still love pinwheels, so may do the same as my first just substituting the dark for the light.
Carol,
Really like your purple background. It makes your diamonds sparkle!! Great idea!

I love it Carol.
Carol, your quilts are beautiful.
Sorry Marsha, didn't mean to mislead you - I meant I used the same strip method to sew the pieces, but didn't use the tube method on the String X. It is also one of Bonnies' patterns. The way you do it is trim the ends and add triangles to the sides. Well, better look at her pattern, not easy to explain! Now I'm making some more pieces with strips, this time on thin fabric, so no paper to tear off! Trying to decide how I want to put this one together now.
