Thanks, Nana~~start counting out those squares, don't think I have enough this time, but lots of scraps to cut more. It's not a problem to find scraps around here!
Sorry Nana,
Im having a simple moment, for the neutral and the 3 yards do i have to have it in complete yards, as i have left over neutrals from a jelly roll.
lots of love

The jelly roll won't work for this pattern. You will need actual yardage for the neutral.

Florals with a dark background will work fine as your scrappy portion.

My only recommendation is to put any light colored scraps that you pull back into the bin. I pulled out my bag of 2 1/2 in squares and separated only the lights and lighter mediums out of the mix leaving only my darks.
OK, as I'm a bit behind with MQ6, haven't done step 3 as I wasn't sure about some of my 2 1/2" being a bit dark on the black background, I'm going to do a rethink. Separate out the dark ones left for this quilt then cut some brighter ones for that one. Thanks Nana for putting the requirements up so early, I new I was hesitating for a reason.

You are very welcome Joy.
Nana,
Problem Child here! Thank you SO much for not having HST! I'm working on not hyperventilating over the 'mystery' part. May I ask what size you expect the finished top will be? I generally make lap quilts that are 40 X 40 up to 50 X 50, because that is the preferred size for the organization where I donate. I could plan on making to two if that would adapt to your expected size.

I have scraps dating back to the early ninties. They are going to be used up! Also, is there any problem using a multiple of neutrals close to the same color as long as they are at least a FQ. or half yards? I have lots of creams and beiges that I could use up. ???????

The fabric requirements are for a 60 x 66 without borders. You could probably do 2 quilts with this amount of fabric after you add a border.

I am not sure on this pattern how the scrappy neutral would look. If you want to save your neutrals for the next scrappy pattern they would work great.
Thank you, Nana! Perfect timing...I'll get DH to take me to LQS tomorrow to look for light neutral. Closest I have is a medium blue, and I really want to use that for another project. So I shall force myself to go shopping. Sounds like it will be easy to make 2 lap quilts! Better get to cutting my scraps so I'll be ready.

Thanks, Nana, I will find one neutral to use and will save my FQs for the next one.
I'm wondering if this pattern would be fun for all Christmas fabrics? I have a TON of it, and never sure what to do with it all, so it sits.
I know I'll have to buy the neutral, but not sure if I have enough scraps that I can find in dark colors. My MQ is all blue, and I think I want to veer away from blue this time around. I may just have to buy some gray, black & really dark blues for this one. With a couple doses of deep red or green to break it up. We'll see what jumps out at me when I stop by the store.
Such a bummer...I have to go fabric shopping... (I wonder if I can convince my DD that it is really necessary?)

This would probably work fine with Christmas fabrics as long as their is really good contrast between them and your background. Have fun shopping...I know it is such a chore...ROFLOL
