Sheila, it's just wonderful! My two favorites, scraps and purples! You really went to town with the idea someone started ~~ aren't you proud you finished it? Great job!
Shelia, wow now that's a beautiful quilt. Great work.

Shelia, beautiful quilt
I finished piecing my July scrappy a couple weeks ago and just got a picture today. Didn't quite get the whole quilt in the picture. I ended up with lots of 1/4" and 1/2" pieces in mine. I'm still not sure I really like it, but it will be a good one to practice machine quilting on after I take the longarm rental class at a local quilt shop.
BarbaraJ--I really like all your purple accents! And I like the piano key border. Nice! Certainly should give you lots of LA practice!! Have fun!!

Your quilt came out great. I too wasn't sure about mine, but wound up donating it to a group that was collecting quilts for families that lost their homes in Idaho fires.
I've been reading this thread and am intrigued by this method. Sort of like disappearing 9 patch but even more scrappy. Do you think it would work OK if I started with a 16" block and cut the two ways like the instructions here say? I'd probably cut at 4" or maybe even 5". That way I would end up with a larger end product so could do a 3 x 4 layout plus a border for a lap quilt.

Definitely. Go for it. Can't wait to see it.

I love your quilt. All the purples are so pretty and the piano key border is perfect. It took me a while to really get into true scrappy. Now I love them. Have fun playing with your quilting.

You can use this technique on any size and do your cuts at whatever increments that you want. You can also do more cuts if you want your quilt to look even more scrappy. There really aren't any rules. Just have fun and make a beautiful quilt.
BarbaraJ, really nice job. great blend of colors and love the border.
I skipped this project but keep getting inspired to do this. Everything you ladies have done with this has been wonderful.
