this is my first Bargello quilt.  I made it into a baby quilt with prairie points around the outer edges.

That's your first Bargello?  How do you put the round ones together?

I have a wedge template that made it into a round shape.  I had it all pieced onto a background and ready to quilt for my son and daughter in law for a wedding gift, when she came for a visit and had a quilt book and a selected quilt pattern she wanted me to make.  So she has never seen this one or known that it had been intended for her and him.  I took it apart and made it into a baby quilt with yellow swirl minkie on the back.

Cathy this is beautiful and so unique.  What is minkie?   I haven't heard the term before.

I'm a beginning quilter.  I joined the Bargello group because I think the quilts are beautiful, but I have decided they are too complicated for me right now.  After I have made several simple quilts, I'll give it a try.  I enjoy seeing all the beautiful bargello quilts everyone has made.   Also, does any one know of websites that have free bargello patterns?

Cathy;  This bargello quilt is so beautiful.  I would love to learn how to make the round ones.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks.  I actually bought a "liner for a xmas tree skirt~to be quilted" for another round one.

And was able to make a cape out of the extra strips for my 7 year old niece.  she loved it.

Minkie is a super soft material that costs about $15 a yard.  Very expensive but so soft for a baby.  Ask at your local fabric store or even at wal-mart.  But Wal-mart's isn't quite as soft.
