  • Baltimore's Country Cousin vs Wm Morris miniature sampler

    Since I don't have the BC Cousin book and do have the Wm Morris in Applique book I thought I would TRY the miniature sampler on pg 68. Looks like a worthwhile project, but as a novice I wonder if I can do it justice. I'm going for it even if it comes out wonky...I'll post some progress when...

    Finished Block 1 - Crossed Hearts. It is needle turned and I put a smaller heart on each of the larger ones.

    I am planning on doing needle turn applique on this quilt. Need lots more practice with this method. Have enlarged the pattern for a 16 inch block and have the stems all made. Now on to the fun part. How long a time frame are you planning for doing each block? Would like to be able to keep up if possible...

    i forgot to add this last night. it shows the backing fabric cut. you put this under the applique, when you have a fabric that the seam allowance shows through. here i have it on top of the applique showing the turn under seam marked with the backing just a scant 1/8 inch smaller. i just trace around...

    i only use one template for each shape and when they templates are only used a few times i make them out of freezer paper. trace the shapes onto the dull side of the freezer paper , fold it over and iron shiny sides together. this will make a pretty durable template. here, again, you can see how i use...

    i forgot to add this tool. it is my favorite for making circles. whe you are picking fabrics for circles, if you choose one that has a definite pattern, like a teensy check, it will make the wobbles along your seam disappear and will appear more round. when you use a solid you see every little bobble...
