This is the base for a calenderquilt. Every month a new month can be hung in front of it. The base has got little loops attached to it. The design is by Francoise Maarse. It's the 2010 project, but I finished it in 2012. It's all hand applique, using a twosided sticky lining. In the Netherlands we call it vliesofix, I don't know if it goes by the same name in the US.

Yes, it does look like a picket fence around the center. This is really a very pretty block and you did good work on it!

The border does look like a picket fence. I love the quilt. Very bright and cheery. Beautiful work.
