This is what I have been working on most of the year. It's a Cal-king quilt I made for my sista's bed. The flowers, vines, and leaves are hand appliqued using needle turn. It was a very challenging quilt for me to make. I've never done hand applique and never heard of needle turn until I started this project in Feb 2011. Now I LOVE hand work and especially needle turn! I really learned a lot creating the quilt.

The center star is Marsha McCloskey's Feathered Star pattern. The overall quilt pattern is from Laura Shotwell, Fig Leaf Quilt Shop.

Phew! I'm glad it's finished and on it's way to my sista!

I was awe-struck.  What a beautiful quilt!  Your sister will just love it.  It looks like a ton of work.

Thanks so much for all the praise. It was a ton of work it's a one-of-a-kind. I just hope my sister uses it everyday. She is really bad about putting things in the closet and "saving" them for a special occasion.  Hello! Everyday is a special occasion!  lol

You did a beautiful job! Your sista ought to love it. Maybe when she opens it you can recommend a place where it will really stand out.

Thanks everyone for your lovely words. It was really an gift of love to my sista. Now I'm making king pillow shams for her birthday. I'm just doing the needle turn flowers and vines for the center and then adding a few borders. No HSTs, triangles, or stars. Yippie!  lol

OMG!  What a beautiful Quilt.  I love the featherd star.  I love to look at them more than I like to make them, lol.  You did a wonderful job on this!
