I have worked long and hard on this one, but the end result was worth the effort.  I have never had the pleasure of getting the piecing and quilting done at the same time, or pretty close to the same time.  With the extra backing fabric on the border pieces I was able to turn the backing to the front for the binding.  I kind of cheated on my hand applique / hand quilted and did a fancy stitch on my machine to stitch the backing down on the front side for the binding. The quilt finished at 66 x 82.

sal, this is outstanding.   i love how you did your sashes. they define the blocks but don't detract.  i may have to copy you.  your border is perfect.  way to go.   i do hope you posted this to the show and tell.  may i post it there if you haven't already?

I have this pattern (book) waiting in the wings with all the blocks copied so that I can make the blocks bigger! You have done a super job I love your CC it looks like a true labour of love.

I love all the blocks in the book and hope in the next century to have it done too. what a great incentive
