Hello everyone, I am a fairly new quilter and very new at applique.  I discovered applique while working on Dear Jane, and I am hooked!  Still developing my skills and getting up to speed, but I keep discovering new techniques and practicing, and I think getting better ; )    I took a needleturn class where I learned about Frixion pens -- wow, how cool are those!  Anyway, looking forward to following along with you ladies.  Has anybody out there tackled a Baltimore Album?

Hello Patricia. Welcome. I'm happy you're so taken with needle turn. It is my favourite method for appliqué.

I made "Baltimore's Country Cousins" with this group but I have not made a traditional Baltimore Album quilt. No plans for the future but you never know.

Hi Patricia. I haven't done a Baltimore Album yet, but I'm hoping the group will choose one soon! I love applique and am still working on 2 quilts from last year. Hoping to finish one in the next couple of months so I can enter it in a local quilt show in October. This has been a fun group, I think you'll enjoy it.

how's the back basting going, kris?  do you still use it?   one of the gals in our guild uses it exclusively now and I think I may have another look at it.

I have a couple of patterns picked out for next year, but I have to get through garden party first, and it has stalled because I have been pretty busy.  things will slow down soon I hope

Yes Gini I still use back basting. I like it; my placement it more accurate this way. I don't like tracing so I use it for smaller projects like my 10 inch blocks.

Hello everyone!  I just joined your group.   Applique is something I've stayed away from, but since Pat Sloan recommended Heat n Bond LITE I'm ready to give it another try!  Just wondering....is this group mostly for those who hand applique or for those who also machine applique?  Also, which group is for machine applique embroidery...this one for the machine embroidery group?   :)   Thanks!

Barbara

hi Barbara, this group is for everyone that appliques.   applique embroidery is embroidery and will be found in the machine embroidery group.  I was a bit confused when I realized they sometimes call machine embroidery, machine applique embroidery.   machine applique is a separate technique ( and truly applique) from machine applique embroidery (which is embroidery)    confused yet?  I am.

Hi - I'm new to applique quilting.  I prefer to do hand stitching, and have been researching/learning about needle turn techniques.  I recently started making some Dear Jane quilt blocks - several of which are appliqued.  My first one wasn't very good...so, that inspired me to do some learning about the techniques I'd need to make the next ones more pleasing to my eye.   I *am* getting better at it - as always - practice helps!

It's been so long since I was here keeping up with you all that I've forgotten how to use the program. I'm posting my finished Fantasy Flowers quilt top, just so you all know I'm still working even though I'm not reporting in! LOL
