jane, i cut all my pieces out with a 1/4 inch seam allowance if they need to be tucked under another piece.    normally i would leave a 1/8 inch seam allowance, but i want to make sure i have enough to tuck under.  i can always trim it after sewing.

if i understand your question right i draw out the piece exactly like the shape incuding the dotted line that is the tuck under,   then i leave a 1/8th to 1/4 inch seam allowance around when i cut it out.   i use that dotted line ( and it is only dotted on the picture, i don't dot it on the fabric)  as a guide to stitch the top applique piece down on it.

Gini, Patricia Faye, Janet, Jacy, Lynn I love your Fantasy Flowers blocks. I had forgotten to keep up with this group.  I have to say I love the work and I love to see how each one makes it unique.  I still need to work lots to work at your level of quality.  Wow!

Fantasy Flowers Block 2 completed. Hated the Bee. On to catch up on MQ *8, then a couple of baby quilts before the next block is posted.

Believe me I looked! I have some great dragonfly's. The next block just may get a dragonfly instead of a bee.

Thank you everyone for the kind words about my Bluebird block. It was fun to work with bigger pieces for a change.

Lol Maggie. Catching up on MQ 8 right now, marking my HST's. I'm off work today and tomorrow, but the UFO block is set out to work on again while I am on the phones.

I may be able to keep up better. I have a new IPad!  Happy Birthday to me! This site appears to be pretty fast on the safari browser.
