Here is my block:

Once you do 3 of these, adding the house parts is pretty basic.  Aligning the big flower pot was a challenge.  When I made the stem/stalk I didn't look at the template & after I was all finished I discovered I put it UNDER the
"soil" instead of down to the center of it.

The shamrocks were a little bit of a challenge with the V's but they turned out.

Getting better at the embroidery part! I found some cute little button beads at Walmart that were the perfect color.

Your block is absolutely lovely, Patricia.  One thing concerns me though.  Will you have enough seam allowance on the flower pot side?  You will have to square off all your blocks and might have to cut some more off - for which you will use the other side I assume.  You have more room on the other side.  On the other blocks you might need to push your cottage over a bit and try centering the whole picture.  I love your colors and the quality of your stitching.

Thank you Emily.  These have been squared to 121/2 inches so I don't think there will be a problem with the seam allowance.

That's great.  I thought it was a 6" square.  I guess I've been working on the small ones too long.  They all look 6" to me now.  You know whatt you're doing so ignore me.

beautiful block patricia faye.

scale is a fuuny thing.  i was thinking the same as emily, that you were too close to the seam allowance.  after i read the posts and realized it was a 12 inch block and went back and looked with an eye to 12 inches, it looked fine.

Nice block Patricia Faye. I love the green roof, it looks like an Irish thatched roof in spring. Great job on the shamrocks.

Patricia, very pretty block.  Your work looks good!  I have discovered that the more I do the better and easier it get!  Lucky for us, new ones!  I also have enjoyed looking at the different color and fabric choices.

Some where in this learning process I realized my little bitty stash was just not providing me with a lot of choices.  A couple of quilting friends have decided to save their scrapes, that they would normally throw away, so I would have more to work with.  Now I spend a lot of time on the selection part.  What fun!
