This is the 6" size and what a hard one!  The pieces were so small.  It has led me to the decision that I will not make the border they have published but will probably make my own.  I can't even imagine making 24 of these in the 6" size.  And I haven't even tried the Sunflower yet!

Emily, this is beautiful.  Nice work.   I've been rethinking the border, too.    My colors are so vivid on the brown background I'm using,  I'm thinking about ways to use all these colors in a pieced border.    We'll see when I get further down the road.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing.  When it nears the end  of the blocks then is the time to decide the border, if I live that long.  I might just incorporate a few of the flowers and leaves around the whole thing.  I'll see.  It should be interesting what we all decide.

emily, these could be done in just two pieces with embroidery for the dark part.   it would look very good, too

You're right, Gini.  I never thought of that.  I did it with fabric which I did not cut out as they said.  I just put a block of the dark blue down and sewed the light blue over it.  And it still was a pain in the neck.  I like your idea better.  Maybe I will give it a whirl.

Yes, it is a fun and relaxing hobby, Sheila - mostly when I throw it on the floor and stomp on it!  Truth be told, I do enjoy doing these flowers.  They look so pretty in their colors up on the design wall.

Gini, that's a good idea for the border ones.  I wouldn't want to have to do this block over and over again either.

Emily

Your morning glory is gorgeous.  I looked at all those tiny pieces and decided I wasn't ready to try this one.  I do like the idea of embroidery for the stripes on the petals.  Sounds much easier.

Here's my morning glory minus the little yellow center stitching.  I haven't embellished all my blocks completely yet.  I don't have a sewing room, just my small bedroom, so getting everything out at once gets a little overwhelming.  If I have the threads handy I do them.  If not, they're going to wait.
