i have been itching to make another baltimore quilt. i just got in the mail today, a book called baltimore's country cousins by susan mckelvey. i think i will start this in the spring.
the patterns are fairly easy, nothing too complicated. there are examples in the book of how to use individual blocks; i.e., outlining them for framing, putting two or three together for a table runner, wall hangings. i think this would be a great project for beginners. a couple of the patterns are super cool. the blocks are 12inches, but she has a sizing chart for enlarging them. one block, enlarged, could make a great center for a medallion quilt.
she has color considerations for each block on how to choose colors; not which colors, but how color works in the block. like where to use large prints or stronger colors.
is anyone interested in making this quilt as a group? check the book out at your LQS, see what you think. i would be willing to lead this project if anyone is interested. gini

I'd be interested in joining this group.
OH Gini. I'm interested. I don't know if I should start another one though. I'll have to think about it. Will get the book though.

Gini, I have the book "Baltimore's Country Cousins" by Susan McKelvey. Is this the same book or is there another with slightly different name? I would be interested in doing this with a group if you get one going.

I thought it probably was, just wanted to be sure. I've been sitting here looking at it. It does have some nice blocks. I had forgotten I had the book until you mentioned it. Thanks for the reminder! Now I remember why I bought it in the first place.
I would, Gini.
I just looked on Amazon and the book is only $13.57. The motifs are adorable. I've wanted to make a Baltimore Album quilt for a long time and this way I'll have our group to do it with. It's so much better to make a quilt with my QCA buddies!

OK GiniI found it on American Quilter's Society (publisher) for $5.99 with shipping it's $8.57. I'm getting it from them.
Would love to be in the group. I have been looking at all the blocks from TAT and Snowbound. I got all the patterns, but hav been to busy to do any of them. I have decided that this next year I am going to take the time to feel the needle and thread going through fabric again!!! My book is ordered...
"I cannot count my day complete until needle and thread meet."
