Hi all. My name is Kathy and I am a new quilter and have yet to try applique. But when I am looking through patterns and magazines I seem to be drawn to scrappy quilts and applique, esp pieced and applique together. I would be interested in your opinions for a good all round book on needle turn applique basics and a good starter project. I am looking forward to being a member of the group.
whoa I see creating my signature didn't work so great. Better try that again!

Kathy Ann,

hello, msdenali and welcome to the applique group
hey kathy. i have been busy, but i will try and find you some resources this week. for beginning applique, look for gently curved and larger pieces. we made a snowman quilt here that worked really well. we have made two quilts from bunny hill designs and they were pretty simple. we also did baltimore's country cousin. there are several simpler patterns to get you started. the buggy barn has a good mix of pieced with applique patterns. their applique is usually pretty simple.

Thanks!! My husband got me a couple of applique books for Christmas that I'm dying to get into, but I haven't found the time yet. I've never done any needle turn and my machine applique experience is very limited. I look forward to exploring this in the future.
I'm thinking of *maybe* trying the country cottage blocks with you all once that gets started. However, I just need to be sure I have the time! :)
