and while this photo is up,  you can see i've sewn the petals together, before it's applied to the background.   there are pros and cons to doing it this way, or sewing each petal to the backing separately.   you'll figure out which method you like best.   i tend to go back and forth between the two.

Thanks Gini for the picture and the information.  It will really help me getting started... as soon as my great nephew's quilt is done.  I finished one yesterday that I was asked to do and today is Alaric's quilt.  I will pull out all my greens and pinks... might take a while..lol  I knew there was a reason I kept all those small pieces... Yeah!

Now.. off to the sewing room.

Gini, Thanks for the welcome.  Looking forward to learning more about applique.  I've always been affraid of trying it, but really want to.
