hi martha, the wildflowers started last april, we are just finishing up the blocks.   if you go to pages on the right side of the discussion page, you will see the blocks in the order we sewed them.   i tried to pick out the easiest to do first.    we have just started a block of the month, country cottages, free to download until the end of march.   we will be starting floral fantasy in april or may   you could join us on one of those, too.

I think I'm getting in pretty deep here, but I really do like the wildflower blocks that you did. Are those downloadable patterns?

janet,  the wildflowers are a pattern we got from P3 designs,  i think they were $10 or 12 for all the patterns.   some of her patterns are very cheap.   the one i have picked for this year is one of hers, and i picked it for the same reasons,   it is inexpensive and you will be able to get it for a long time.   one year they ran out of the patterns we selected.

the wildflower blocks can be enlarged to make them easier, without losing  their effect.  there are many areas in the blocks that can be made easier, too, by combining pieces and using batiks that have swirly patterns.

Thanks Gini. I'll go there. I need to order the one we're starting next month anyway, so I guess I'll order them both.

I just ordered some more of her needles when I ordered the Fantasy Flowers pattern.   I really like them too.

I have ordered the Fantasy Flowers, hoping to get it today.  I have very mixed feelings on having ordered it, since I'm working on the Cottages, officially that is.  But so far I have finished one block for the Wildflower pattern, and the first two Cottages............  I just know that I won't be able to resist trying the Fantasy one.          What can I say :-))  I'm hooked!  lol

I'm with you Melody. I have 2 of the cottages finished and I just received both patterns for the Wildflowers and Fantasy Flowers yesterday. I'll be picking my fabrics today to get started!

I'm with Janet & Melody.  I ordered & received the Fantasy Flowers, so now I'm looking at fabrics.  They are big blocks & don't look as difficult as Country Cottages so I'll give it a go too.

fantasy flowers are a little harder than cottages.   there are a lot of stems that entwine.  the applique itself should be pretty straight forward.
