Great memories of your grandmother. I spent a lot of time with mine. Neither my mom or her two sisters were interested in handiwork, nor were they crafty. My gramma's house was filled with craft projects, baking lessons, sewing lessons, piano lessons. She had a lake to explore and lived on a farm. My uncle that is my age was as far from the house as he could get in case he had to do a chore. So I had gramma to myself, mostly.

Pretty blocks Gini. Nice find.
Gini, it is oh so tempting to pick up quilt related item on sale. Did you get them from a yard sale or antique shop?
aka Grandma Sunshine
You lucky dog. They sure are pretty.
Kris that is the only Sunbonnet Sue quilt that I like.
I love the southern belles too Nana. The little Sue doesn't do it for me.
Gini, those blocks are beautiful. Great find. Years ago at a flee market I passed up a quilt top that was appliqués and embroidered that featured southern belles swinging and other activities and I have kicked myself ever since. I have never seen another like it. It was $100' and at the time a lot of money for me.
Here is my finished wall hangings. Sorry it took so long to post. I didn't know where to post them so I just came here! Back to my FF and WF so I can be ready for a new project come the first of the year!
I love the way you finished these. Makes me more determined to get back into all of mine.
Janet, I love the way you did yours. I'll have to go back and check out your other postings.
Thank you Jan and Bonita. They were fun to do and I'm glad I be an inspiration to you, LOL
They are lovely. Well done.
lots of love
Yay Janet. Your wall hangings are lovely.
Janet--LOVELY job! I still want to work on these, and will at some point, once I figure out fhe size of the background & house. My first two attempts sure didn't come out correctly at all. Ended up with my door almost as wide as the house, and if I scaled it down so it fit the house, then I could only get one window in. I think the problem wasn't with the door, but the house. So, I made the house wider...then there wasn't room on the background. I really have trouble with "drafting" to scale. Dang it! But I'm in a fall exchange and would dearly like to make the one with the leaves (November?) as part of my gift.
I'll have to dig it out & see if I can make it work again.
Good luck. Are you making your own pattern? I don't think it's very expensive to buy if you want to go that route. It sure made it easy just to trace it onto the fabrics and then go for it. It is from Shabby Fabrics if I remember right.
