now melody, take a deep breath. you can do this. it is easy. have you done a heart? if so these are like heart tops all in a row. clip to one thread shy of the innie. stitch around the curve to the innie. take one stitch through just your applique fabric only, about 3 threads into the fabric. tug down to pull up those threads. (this secures that innie you clipped) take another stitch here through the background this time. then continue up the other side of the curve. do you want pictures? i will hunt you up one if you need it.
as you get closer to the innie you clipped, make your stitches smaller and smaller until they are almost touching. as you go back up the other side slowly make your stitches longer. this will be the weakest spot in your applique so you want it secured well

Hold on a second, the buggy barn pattern only is $120!!! That can't be right.
this is downloadable for $36 from piece o cake designs.
here's another option. we could fina a large central motif to applique.
This one is beautiful! (The Piece O' Cake one).

Enjoy appliquéing this wallhanging quilt full of delicate flower blossoms.
Item # P.0006Retail Price: $8.00
what about something like this used as a
central medallion? then we could see how everyone sets it into a quilt.
Finished Size: 28" x 35"
This one looks good as is. I don't really do piecing well. But we can all do our own thing about setting it into something. I wouldn't mind this one and it is not too expensive either.
there were a couple of nice appliques on this site. it doesn't need to be this applique either, it's just another idea.

That is an excellent tute Gini. And if you use thread that matches the applique fabric, you'll never see those tiny extra stitches in the V.

Since so many like Baltimores, here is a Baltimore hanging. The blocks are 4" but it can be enlarged, I'm sure.
